After having spent quite a while kissing Sheriff Israel's ass

(because "He's been against armed teachers/the NRA/Stand Your Ground laws", etc.), this paper finally started some real reporting.  First(they did throw in all the defenses here as well) by saying "The new Governor should get rid of him", and now this.
Two decades after Columbine and five years after Sandy Hook, educators and police still weren’t ready for Parkland.
I haven't finished it, but so far it seems like a bunch of officials need their heads removed.  Including for this:
A campus watchman has a chance to stop gunman Nikolas Cruz before any blood is shed. But he doesn’t do it.
Security monitor Andrew Medina, an unarmed baseball coach, is riding in a golf cart and unlocking gates 20 minutes before dismissal. He sees Cruz walk through one of those unguarded gates with a rifle bag.
He recognizes Cruz as “Crazy Boy,” the former student that he and his colleagues had predicted most likely to shoot up the school. He radios another campus monitor/coach, but he does not pursue Cruz and does not call a Code Red to lock down the school.
...
Medina shouldn’t have been in that job – school investigators had recommended he be fired for sexually harassing students, but district administrators overruled them.
Wonderful bunch of people running things in Broward County, huh?

What is sad is the paper is finally confirming all the facts that we basically knew within 12 hours of the shooting.

Lack of response.
Incorrect response.
Complete cowardice.
Sex pervert teacher serving as lookout.

The only thing we didn't know at the time was where the shooter got his guns, which turns out from his mom, who (mom) knew he was unstable so she should be prosecuted for 'straw purchase/buyer' stuff.

Seriously. All of it was known within 12 hours.

Yet only now are the 'citizens' of Broward Count getting riled up over the school district (whose programs we knew about) and their lack of preparation over events like this (which were well known before the event) and the Sheriff's Office (who screwed the pooch earlier at the local airport.)

So. Will all the gun control issues that that idiot Rod Scott signed into effect be rescinded? Please?

But let's not forget the most important part: We need to let those in positions of power continue to decide how lethal force is to be used in our defense. Focus only on replacing the particular disappointing person, and don't consider that you were unable to do so until after the disaster. Else, persons other than dedicated criminals and government employees might be armed. And the very thought is too unpleasant to properly contemplate.

The most important thing about these people is to limit their ability to interfere in our lives.
