In further delay of doing the stuff I need to,

While cleaning up and rearranging, I have had a realization:

For some things, I need to do some loading.  For some, a LOT of loading.  But I need to get this place neatened up first.

Question: anyone familiar with subsonic .223 loads?  Guy at work asked, and I've never seen anything on this(not having looked before probably having something to do with that).  Lots of "Hey, I tried this out!", but having trouble finding anything from a known source.

'Protesters against injustice' my ass

That line from Raj Whitehall just keeps fitting: "Vandals.  Nothing but a bunch of fucking VANDALS!"

As to one of the stupid arguments the anti-rights people have come up with,

There’s no historical evidence to suggest that the Second Amendment was “created to ensure Southern slaveowners the right to maintain & arm slave patrols to put down insurrections amongst the enslaved,” even if southerners subsequently used guns for their nefarious purposes. …The right to self-defense, in fact, is incompatible with the idea of slavery — it runs counter to the arguments made by the Founders, even if some of them were hypocrites… The animating ideas of the Second Amendment — both as personal and communal protection — are predicated on natural rights and English common law. And while nearly every intellectual, political, and military leader of the Founding generation stressed the importance of the right to bear arms as a means of preserving liberty, some of its most vociferous champions were against slavery. …The first American effort to codify and guarantee the right to bear arms was made in Pennsylvania, under a conference run by Benjamin Franklin, also president of the colony’s anti–slavery society. The second colony to do so was Vermont, where there were few slaves and no fear of a revolt. …What’s most ironic about Jones, who names herself after 19th-century civil-rights leader Ida B. Wells, is that the historic figure was a champion of the Second Amendment. She maintained…“that a Winchester rifle should have a place of honor in every black home, and it should be used for that protection which the law refuses to give.”

According to this the driver went around stops set up

BY THE DAMNED SEATTLE POLICE for the purpose of LETTING THESE IDIOTS TAKE OVER THE HIGHWAY... after which he hit two of the idiots, one's died.

Hours after Taylor succumbed to her injuries, the WSP announced it was changing its policies to arrest people who block freeways instead of letting them protest there.
I wonder if the idiots in charge are considering that it was pretty damned stupid to allow this in the first place?  Or are they so woke it doesn't matter?

That 'contempt and hate for journalism' you Professional Journalists blame on Trump?

No, you're taking care of that all by yourselves.
Just amazing, isn't it?

Friday, it's still 90 outside

and humid enough to keep some fish going for a while.  Ain't a/c wonderful?  Especially with studying to be done.

I'm sick of the news

and short on time, so just a quick something

Hey, the PRC has a People's Republic Paradise to run,

and after you've killed them and used their organs, you've got to do something with the rest, right?

And remember: lots of 'elites' and idiots in universities think the PRC is a peachy-fine government.

Attacking ambulance and fire personnel at an emergency scene

should result in "Use the vehicle to clear the crowd if you have to."

Someone dies because of crap like this, everyone involved should face manslaughter charges.

Except the leaders, for them it should be murder.

Range day

This will be updated later with some details.  For now be it known:
DAMN, it's hot and humid out there

Shot some .40-65, some .45-70, and a friend, who recently got a suppressor(Silencerco Hybrid) brought it and his .300 Blackout rifle.

On the latter: he'd found a box of the new Hornady  190-grain Sub-X bullets and some load information.  I'll try to get the specifics later, but it being a quiet day(probably because most people were smart enough not to be out in the heat) I was able to set up my Chrony, so we got some readings.

Added: he was using H4198, 10.5, 11.0, and 11.5 grains.  Average velocities 927, 1025, and 1103fps.  Best group at 100 was with the 11.5 load, about 2".  That suppressor was quieted things down nicely, too.

According to a calculator I found at the National Weather Service site, speed of sound was about 1146 at that time/temperature, so all of these were subsonic

On the .40-65, some loads were blah, though part of the problem may have been me: I'd been taking 24" squares of white paper to put on the target stand and then putting the 18" target on that, the contrast making aiming easier for me.  I forgot those today.  One load that worked quite well was a 300-grain RCBS bullet over 57.0 of Goex 2f powder, this at 200 yards

The one in the bull was the fouling shot, with a different bullet.  Those five upper left... I'd hoped this bullet would work, and it does.  Going to try this again to make sure it wasn't a one-time thing.

Enemy action

Based on video footage captured by other protesters, a white SUV was driving south on University Avenue before pulling into the right lane in an attempt to turn onto Center Street, said Deputy Chief of Police John Geyerman.

Several protesters began approaching the vehicle as it was attempting to force its way through and a male protester ran up to the SUV on the passenger side, pointed a handgun at the driver, and shot one round through the window, striking the driver.

The driver accelerated southbound onto University in an attempt to get to safety, Geyerman said.

The male protester who is seen shooting into the vehicle ran after the white SUV and shot a second round through the rear passenger window. Video footage then shows the protester concealing the firearm and continuing to protest.

Reports indicate that same male protester later approached another vehicle at 500 N. and University Avenue, striking and breaking the window with the same handgun, Geyerman said.
This is the second time I've read of some leftist asshole doing this.  So far nobody has died, but that's not going to continue.  As the gentleman at GFZ notes
IANAL but it seems if this is the new tactic for protesters against cars, slowing down is a bad idea.
The assholes probably consider this a win-win: they try to kill people for daring to not be blocked in, and when people start saying "Screw this, I'm not going to be a sitting target" and start going through protesters at speed, they'll scream that they're victims.

I might not have thought it possible, but Paul Krugman

has become an even more rancid asshole than he used to be(at least publicly)

'Protesters' break into a gated community-

literally, broke open a gate- and go stomping through to find the Mayor's house to demand resignation for being insufficiently supine to their wishes, start threatening a couple who retrieve arms and tell them to go away.

Most media leaves out some important things in service to 'evil white rich people threaten peaceful BLM protesters' narrative.(surprise!)

What makes this even more fun?  The two homeowners are lawyers, Democrats, and support BLM.

Apparently not enough to sit quietly and bow down when their neighborhood is invaded, apparently.

Question: how long before one of the woke troglodytes decides to firebomb their house, car, or otherwise express displeasure at being told to piss off?

Sooner or later, I'm really surprised it hasn't happened yet, these assholes are going to firebomb a house or car with someone inside* and get shot.  The left will scream "PEACEFUL PROTESTER KILLED!" and demand more gun laws so they can murder people with less chance of being shot while trying, and a whole bunch of "Please just leave me alone" people will- those that haven't already- take out a gun, load it, look at it, and realize that the time they might have to use it for real is here.

It's going to get interesting.

"Stop Firing the Innocent"

Marvelous idea.  not only does it make sense, but a lot of the left would collectively have strokes and die(no, that's not a bug).

Though The Atlantic needs to get over that "White supremacists have taken over the 'OK' sign" bullshit.

Trying to reason with rioting asshats doesn't work

Getting the hell out of there does.
You'll note the asshat mayor's comments at the end.  Because you can't blame the rioters for what they do, they're just 'protesting'...

The problem with war elephants

is they'll turn on you in a moment.  As some people on the left are finding out the hard way.

A lesson being demonstrated again that a lot of people just won't learn:

If you don't have at least some ammo put away for a rainy day, when said day comes you may have one helluva time getting any.

I'm seeing this over and over: Someone has a gun, or several, but only had a box or two, or what was left of the last box they practiced with, of ammo.  Crap happens, they decide "I really should get a couple of boxes", and there's little or none to be had.

I'm not suggesting having enough that you have to build a special storage building/area for it(though the idea is attractive), but have AT LEAST 500 rounds for each defensive weapon you own.  You use some, replace it immediately.  And if you live in a city/region that might have a high chance of 'civil unrest', for your primary defensive arm/arms a thousand would be much better.

Those aren't any kind of official numbers, just something that seems to me a good starting point.  I've talked to too many people the last few months, especially the last 30 days or so, who'd had maybe two boxes for a fair while, realized they need more, and they can't get any.

As an aside: Someone tells you 'one box per cartridge per customer per day' and you want to argue, or think about that and say "Make it two", you're not getting two.  And if you argue you're just going to piss people off.

1: Gee, making, transporting, and using firebombs on vehicles is illegal;

you'd think two lawyers would know that.

2: You'd think their idiot friends and supporters, and Yahoo 'News' could come up with some better defense than 'it's just vandalism'.
Especially since, if someone melanin-challenged who could in ANY way be somehow linked with conservatives/right-wingers/ these same asshats would be screaming "WHITE SUPREMACISTS BOMBING POLICE CAR!", and demanding jail with no trial.

3: The way this article is put together demonstrates, once more, that Yahoo 'News' is a bigoted and shitty news source.

So, do they not care that they're screwing the black students who work hard

for their grades?  That they're telling companies "You can't trust that the grades we give these students are accurate, so be very careful about hiring them"?

Or do they not care how they're screwing them because "I'm showing how many feels I have for this!" ?
