Seems appropriate

A Miami defense lawyer’s pants burst into flames Wednesday afternoon as he began his closing arguments in front of a jury — in an arson case

Over in EUnuch land, the war against peasants being able to defend themselves, or just learn to shoot, continues.
Despite the engagement and efforts of many Members of the European Parliament, who criticized and opposed what has now come to ignominy as the "EU Gun Ban", the comprimise text as agreed upon by the so-called "Trilogue" back in December was adopted yesterday morning by the European Parliament; all amendments proposed by many groups have been rejected, and now the Member States will have 15 months of time to receive it with a national laws and 30 months to implement it.

Qualified immunity too often means "We can do illegal stuff, like murder you, and get away with it."
And lots of cops wonder why more and more people don't trust them, or the system.

Yeah, Obama lied.

Deliberately, repeatedly and with malice.

I know you're not surprised, but some people are flat amazed.
Or lying to cover up that they knew, but wanted it to happen anyway; I wonder which?

Oh, and if you're stuck in Obamacare and move to another state, you're REALLY screwed.

Over at Ace, another "It enrolled me in Medicaid even though I'm not eligible and NOBODY can help me with this shit."

Prosecutor didn't like being referred to as 'the government'; the response.

They tracked down a IRS employee who broke the law; now they have to get the Justice Department and IRS to give a rats ass and do something about it.

Angela Corey's not looking real good, and it's due

to her own words and actions. To borrow a bit,
After the release of the photo, however, Dershowitz went much further, telling Breitbart News that if the prosecutors did have the photo and didn’t mention it in the affidavit, that would constitute a “grave ethical violation,” since affidavits are supposed to contain “all relevant information.”

Dershowitz continued, “An affidavit that willfully misstates undisputed evidence known to the prosecution is not only unethical but borders on perjury because an affiant swears to tell not only the truth, but the whole truth, and suppressing an important part of the whole truth is a lie."

JOM has more on the bail hearing, and the prosecution does not look- well, they look fairly awful, in fact.

So some of the idiocies the last few years at Wally World

were caused by a Gore clown? Well, somebody had to be behind it.
The Sierra Club’s Carl Pope seemed pleased that Dach was inside the enemy camp, confiding to the New Yorker:
One of the remarkable things about the environmental movement is how rarely people from our side end up on the other side, and Leslie is on the other side.
But Dach’s fervor only sunk the company. Andy Barron, a Wal-Mart executive vice president, told an investor meeting:
Clearly, we’ve lost some of our focus on what I would call the core customer. … You might say, in short, that we were trying to be something that maybe we’re not.
A place that sold inexpensive/less-expensive stuff to people; yeah Sierra Club would see that as the enemy.

I should note Romney announced starting his committee to study running for President again. While in some ways I agree with Limbaugh who said he'd vote for Elmer Fudd if it'd get Obama out of the Oval Office... Romneycare Romney? Loves the PROM gun laws Romney? HELL no.

Heard this on radio the other day, here's the text: Trump is running for his big ego, nothing more, and he doesn't care who and how many people he screws so long as he gets stroked. Fuck him.

The New York Times released a rare and honest appraisal of of Barack Obama’s failed economic policies yesterday.
Economix Blog reported:
At a time when the economy should be rebounding the latest GDP number for the first quarter of 2010 shows thatthe Obama economic policies have failed.

When 2011 began, Macroeconomic Advisers, a forecasting company, expected that America’s economic output would shape up to rise at a 4.1 percent annual rate in the first quarter, the highest pace in over a year.

But economic reports coming in over the last few months have been increasingly disappointing.
But, that wasn’t posted long.
Of course not; they realized they'd criticized The Lightworker and that just can't happen.

"Show me on the doll where the TSA screener touched you."
One of these days some parent is going to beat hell out of some screener, or flatly say "No way in hell will you do that" and get arrested, and the trial just might get interesting. From the looks of it nothing else will get these assholes to knock the bullshit off.

Can't remember where found this linked yesterday: How To Handle Lawyers Threatening You. No knowledge myself, but sounds correct.
Ah, just remembered, was at the QOTD here:
I can safely say that few people have less respect for the law than lawyers. Abuse of law is not just common, it defines the industry.

Just across the border,
Soldiers found the corpses last week in San Fernando, in Tamaulipas state near Texas, and initially unearthed 59 bodies. The toll has since risen steadily in one of the most gruesome finds so far in Mexico's escalating drug war.

Well, maybe they are...

He is Lindsey Graham and he is Washington. His ego, his Politico-anointed status as one of official Washington's "top 50 party animals" comes first. It's all about me, me, me, and not that coastal state with the blazing sun and dreary flatlands filled with even drearier people, "bigots" who need to "shut up" and leave the governing to him. "I'm a winner, pal," he yelled at a heckler who called him out for supporting the Obama agenda during a rare visit to South Carolina. And you, you Tea Party buffoons, you'll be just a memory while I priss and prance from one party to the next, hailed by the New York Times and GQ magazine and MSNBC, and celebrated by La Raza, which has charitably been described as a "racist illegal alien support group." Hey, in midtown Manhattan, at GQ and Vanity Fair magazines, just a BMW billboard or so away from the New York Times headquarters, I'm one of their "favorite" senators. Heck, even Michelle Obama likes me.

Gee, law schools play word games to screw people over

for money; whoda thunk it?
The law graduates posting on these sites know the score. They know that law schools pad their employment figures—96% employed—by counting as “employed” any job at all, legal or non-legal, including part time jobs, including unemployed graduates hired by the school as research assistants (or by excluding unemployed graduates “not currently seeking” a job, or by excluding graduates who do not supply employment information). They know that the gaudy salary numbers advertised on the career services page—“average starting salary $125,000 private full time employment”—are actually calculated based upon only about 25% of the graduating class (although you can’t easily figure this out from the information provided by the schools). They know all this because they know of too many classmates who didn’t get jobs or who got low paying jobs—the numbers don’t jibe with their first hand knowledge.

They know the score now. But they didn’t know it when they first applied to law school. They bought into the numbers provided by law schools. The mission of these sites is to educate, to warn away, the incoming crop of prospective law students—to save them from becoming victims of the law school scam

Oh, on the federal response to that oil spill?

The MMS(Minerals Management Service) is a bureau of the Department of the Interior. President Obama appointed Ken Salazar as DOI Secretary. Attorney Liz Birnbaum is Obama’s Director of the MMS and her Deputy Director is also an attorney, Mary Katherine Ishee. The head of the offshore energy division is a lawyer and political scientist. With that leadership, no wonder part of the federal government’s initial response has been to call the lawyers:

“Attorney General Eric Holder announced today that he is dispatching a team of attorneys from multiple divisions within the Justice Department to New Orleans to meet with the U.S. Attorney and response teams and to monitor the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.”

Oh for God's sake, does this idiot actually think this defense

is going to fly?
Miller said Bishop's failure to obtain tenure at the University of Alabama in Huntsville was likely a key to the shootings. Bishop, who has a doctorate from Harvard University and has taught at the University of Alabama in Huntsville since 2003, apparently was incensed that a lesser-known school rejected her for what amounted to a lifetime job.

"Obviously she was very distraught and concerned over that tenure," Miller said. "It insulted her and slapped her in the face, and it's probably tied in with the Harvard mentality. She brooded and brooded and brooded over it, and then, 'bingo.'"

Just think about that for a moment, and think about trying to sell it to a Alabama jury: "This HARVARD Doctorate didn't get tenure at a crappy Alabama university, and it pushed her over the edge! Don't you understand how stressful that was?"
Hell, a jury about anywhere(except the PROM*); I can imagine a juror slipping and asking "Are you shitting me? THAT'S your defense?"
