Well, I have a response to the Admiral:
Kiss my ass.
'McRaven did not hesitate: “Just a show of faith…. Stay away from our institutions. You know every time you undermine the judicial system, every time you undermine one of our institutions, you undermine America…. So, to say this was not a fair trial undermines the most important institution that we have and that’s our judicial system. So this is really a plea for civility and I hope folks on the left and the right will listen and read the op-ed and try to be, again, try to rise above this.”
As I recall, one of the very important things about the Constitution was recognizing that free people both can and should criticize the institutions of government when people think they've screwed up. So yes, Admiral, you can take your advice and shove it. And you can kiss my ass.

A few things, partly so I don't lose track of them
while I'm going in circles.First, more on the EffingBI:
"It would be a travesty if they've actually done the same thing again. The FBI was always designed to be completely apolitical."
Notably, Veltri is not just anti-Trump, according to the whistleblower, but was acting deputy assistant director of the bureau's Security Division, overseeing efforts to suspend agents' security clearances if they were deemed to be "right-wing radical."
My my, Fauci seems to have changed his mind about 'Get the shot or else!' Speaking of someone who belongs in jail.
And one last thing just because I like it

Mayo Clinic: "How dare you think you actually have freedom of speech!"
Why so many didn't want the Jan. 6 tapes released: Because a bunch of them, especially some prosecutors and judges, deserve jail. At the least.

Californicated passed another idiot law, this one going after doctors who
'disseminate information regarding Covid-19 that departs from the contemporary scientific consensus'. A judge just said "Hold on, there."
...Judge Shubb stated that “the ‘contemporary scientific consensus’ lacks an established meaning within the medical community,” and thus, because the “scientific consensus” is so ill-defined and vague, the physician plaintiffs in the lawsuit are “unable to determine if their intended conduct contradicts the scientific consensus, and accordingly ‘what is prohibited by the law.’”
...
...At oral argument on Monday, January 23, NCLA argued the term “contemporary scientific consensus” is undefined in the law and undefinable as a matter of logic. No one can know, at any given time, the “consensus” of doctors and scientists on various matters related to the prevention and treatment of Covid-19. Judge Shubb agreed with this analysis, stating, “COVID-19 is such a new and evolving area of scientific study, it may be hard to determine which scientific conclusions are ‘false’ at a given point in time.” Because he ruled in favor of Plaintiffs’ Fourteenth Amendment arguments, he did not reach the First Amendment arguments.
Plaintiffs attested that they could not communicate freely with patients, nor treat them properly, according to their best judgment, when they feared being reported and potentially subject to discipline for giving a patient advice that departs from a supposed “scientific consensus.” The very concept of “scientific consensus” is problematic and represents a misunderstanding of the scientific process. As Judge Shubb recognized, “COVID-19 [is] a disease that scientists have only been studying for a few years, and about which scientific conclusions have been hotly contested. COVID-19 is a quickly evolving area of science that in many aspects eludes consensus.
Bold is mine. Because it's important. This 'scientific consensus' crap really needs to stop.

Some journalists were sending out live information on where Elon Musk's plane was,
which sounds like someone playing "Here he is, will someone rid us of this troublesome man?" They were suspended, causing they and their little friends to scream and wail. Note that this was after some asshat blocked the car Musk's kid was in and jumped on the hood.*
I think I've mentioned Taylor Lorenz before. She goes on tv and cries about how mean the online world has been to her, yet she doxxes people and, in one case I read of, went to and harassed family members. Someone contacted Musk about her crap, and guess what?
The wailing continues, and will for some time to come. Because they can't get away with this crap on Twitter anymore, and that's 'an attack on free speech'.

In the 2016 election I once said that I'd be happy to see Trump win just to watch the leftists heads explode. Well, Musk buying Twitter and starting a cleanup is just as entertaining.

I wondered when this was going to happen,
and it's glorious.
So when hundreds of Muslim parents, upset at gay porn in the school libraries, showed up to a school board meeting in Dearborn, Mich., and it devolved into shouting and chaos with board members running away and gay protesters being chased to their cars, the fallout was absolutely hilarious. The headline in the Detroit Free Press after the event went haywire was “LGBTQ and Faith Communities Struggle for Unity.” BAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Can you imagine what the headline would have been if it were a Baptist church chasing gay protesters to their cars? “Fascist White Supremacist Book Burners Bash Gay Man in Parking Lot,” or “Rabid Religious Zealots Terrorize Gay Man Defending Right to Read,” or something equally terrible. I don’t know about you, but I’m enjoying this disaster.

'Reality' is one thing Twatter isn't,
and Rowling- and some others- are proving it..
Rowling herself is doing just fine as well. The latest entry in her successful Cormoran Strike detective series, which she writes under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith, was an international best seller and moved more copies upon release than any prior book in the series. In May, it won Best Crime and Thriller Fiction Book of the Year at the British Book Awards. (Insider, on the other hand, called this same book “poorly received.”) Rowling’s October children’s book, The Christmas Pig, another international best seller, sold over 60,000 copies in just its first week. (The entertainment site Giant Freakin Robot: “JK Rowling Facing Brutal Fan Reactions to New Children’s Book.”) Simply put, Rowling sells more books in a day than the critics claiming she’s been shunned will sell in a lifetime.
Twatter is run by bigoted clowns who delight in trashing anything they disapprove of. Especially someone like Rowling. Or anyone, including doctors and researchers, who dare to speak 'misinformation'. And the Twatter dwellers love it, and cannot understand why they're unable to cancel EVERYBODY!!

This is exactly why I so despise the woke and cancel-culture assholes
No right was deemed by the fathers of the Government more sacred than the right of speech. It was in their eyes, as in the eyes of all thoughtful men, the great moral renovator of society and government. Daniel Webster called it a homebred right, a fireside privilege. Liberty is meaningless where the right to utter one’s thought and opinions has ceased to exist. That, of all rights, is the dread of tyrants. It is the right which they first of all strike down. They know its power. Thrones, dominions, principalities, and powers, founded in injustice and wrong, are sure to tremble, if men are allowed to reason of righteousness, temperance, and of a judgment to come in their presence. Slavery cannot tolerate free speech. Five years of its exercise would banish the auction block and break every chain in the South. They will have none of it there, for they have the power. But shall it be so here? (Frederick Douglass 1860)

Maybe (formerly Great)Britain isn't totally screwed yet
Judges have insisted that freedom of speech includes the 'right to offend' in a landmark ruling which could help to turn the tide on 'woke' intolerance after a feminist who called a transgender woman a 'pig in a wig' and a 'man' was cleared.
Presiding over a case in the Court of Appeal, Lord Justice Bean and Mr Justice Warby said: 'Freedom only to speak inoffensively is not worth having.'
They added that 'free speech encompasses the right to offend, and indeed to abuse another'. The judgment from two senior members of the judiciary will set a precedent for future cases involving freedom of speech.
What horrible thing had she done to be arrested?
In February Ms Scottow, 39, was found guilty of persistently making use of a public communications network to cause annoyance, inconvenience, and anxiety to Stephanie Hayden, 48, between September 2018 and last May.
The horror!
And, of course, the people causing John Peel to spin in his grave had to be involved:
She had been arrested by three police officers in 2019 at her home in Pirton near Hitchin, Hertfordshire, in front of her daughter, 10, and son, 20 months. Boris Johnson later called it an abuse of power.
Because God forbid someone use unapproved language. The cops won't arrest PC-protected assholes who threaten lives and attack people, but This Cannot Be Tolerated.
It's small, but it's a step.

A university president who actually cares about free speech
Well done, sir.
Across our nation it is all too common that opinions expressed that differ from another’s—especially those that are controversial—can spark passion and even outrage, often resulting in calls to suppress that speech.
That simply cannot be allowed to happen. I firmly believe that limiting the range of voices in society erodes our democracy. Universities, moreover, are at the heart of the revolutionary notion of free expression: promoting the free exchange of ideas is part of the core reason for their existence. That open interchange of opinions and beliefs includes all members of the UArts community: faculty, students and staff, in and out of the classroom. We are dedicated to fostering a climate conducive to respectful intellectual debate that empowers and equips our students to meet the challenges they will face in their futures.
I believe this resolve holds even greater importance at an art school. Artists over the centuries have suffered censorship, and even persecution, for the expression of their beliefs through their work. My answer is simple: not now, not at UArts.
From the lead bitch:
“We’re giving a space for her following to come into our safe space that we pay to be in.”…
No, dumbass, you're paying to be in a college for an education; if you think that's the same as 'safe space', you really need to talk to your previous teachers, because they cheated you.

Short version from academia: "Free speech for the right people is fine,
so there is no problem!"
Of course, they don't have the balls to put it that bluntly.
Peter McPherson, president of the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities in Washington DC, called the order “plainly unnecessary” in a statement. “Public universities are already bound by the First Amendment and work each day to defend and honor it,” he said.
Wonder if he managed to put that out with a straight face?
The order is “a solution in search of a problem”, and seems designed to undermine trust in higher education and science, said Julie Schmid, executive director of the American Association of University Professors in Washington DC, in a statement.
Nobody has to do that, madam, you're doing quite well all by yourselves.

Mentioned it before, this kind of crap is why the ACLU can kiss my ass
[T]he ACLU now advises all its affiliates to consider the content of speech, and whether it advances our goals, before deciding whether to defend the right to speak.
That is a balance never before recognized by the ACLU as legitimate in deciding whether to take a free speech case. To deny that this departure from free speech policy is a departure is intellectually dishonest, an Orwellian smokescreen thrown up to obscure what they are doing.
And that, it seems, is why they tried to hide the new guidelines, even claiming, absurdly, that they were protected by the lawyer-client privilege. To say now, after the guidelines were disclosed by others, that they have nothing to hide rings hollow.
The national ACLU has never liked or wanted to defend the 2nd Amendment(some local branches have), but they've made a big deal of "We defend speech!" Except now they don't.
Screw the bastards.

Something to add on that free speech mess the other day
The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending scoundrels. For it is against scoundrels that oppressive laws are first aimed, and oppression must be stopped at the beginning if it is to be stopped at all.
H. L. Mencken
But these (mostly)well-meaning people won't hear it, or won't believe it. Or just don't care.

It's really hard to parody these people
"But they're not the right kind of black, WE are!"
The BSU argued that “the Black student population at Cornell disproportionately represents international or first-generation African or Caribbean students. While these students have a right to flourish at Cornell, there is a lack of investment in Black students whose families were affected directly by the African Holocaust in America.”
There’s a contradiction here. For years liberal writers have blamed black poverty and undereducation on racism—the experience of being more likely to be pulled over by police, to be looked at suspiciously in department stores, to be discriminated against in schools and the workplace.
But it doesn’t seem to be the case, at least not to the same degree, among immigrants. “The more strongly black immigrant students identify with their specific ethnic origins, the better they perform [academically],” Amy Chua and Jed Rubenfeld observed in their 2014 book, “The Triple Package.” . . .
And that's very hard on the "Everyone of Colour is a VICTIM!" line.
That link's to Insty; the WSJ journal is behind a paywall, but he has a long excerpt.
"You can't have that opinion, we don't like it!"
Allow me to be a caveman for a minute: I've not been part of the party & bar circuit for a fair while, and maybe it's changed, but I think that dressing at least somewhat modestly(and how low a bar is that anymore?) and acting like a lady will give some protection from some difficulties. You don't want to, fine; stop giving crap to someone for doing so, and daring to say so.
More on 'Higher' Education: write a paper with wrongthink in it, and the leftists will try to destroy you. Including the gutless administrators. "You can't have different opinions here, this is a university!"
"Please stay! Forget the laws and regulations and threats, and stay here! We really want you to!"
Right. You make it more and more difficult to do business, and some of the threaten to steal the business, but you'll be nicer in the future. Sure.
An old weapon stash from the French Resistance; interesting stuff.

They're this spooked by objects,
I'm amazed Australians can survive there.
“The training ammunition is to be treated as a dangerous item if found and members of the public are urged not pick up or handle the training ammunition.
Four rounds of 9mm ball. Jeez.
The NYeffingTimes: all the news they want you to see, the way they want you to see it.
And Germany is probably screwed.
From the Brit Antifa:
A fringe event at Labour conference has heard calls to expel Jewish activists from the party, while a speaker compared Israel to Nazis and the audience was banned from tweeting in an attempt to silence “hostile” coverage. The room echoed its agreement as a speaker protested that the Jewish Labour Movement was given a campaigning awarded yesterday, instead calling for the group and Labour Friends of Israel to be “kicked out” of the party. A speaker, Miko Peled, said Israel and Israelis should not be treated differently to white South Africans during Apartheid or Nazis. He claimed Israel was committing “genocide” in Gaza. He said those present should stop calling Israel by its name, a view taken up by other speakers who then referred to it only as “the Zionist state”. The notorious Tony Greenstein, who was suspended by Labour for ranting about “Zionist scum” was applauded, and there were cheers for Ken Livingstone.
'Feminists':
"You won't ban speech we don't like? We'll sue!"
Judge:
"You lose."

Brian Williams is worried about fake news.
At least, he's worried about fake news he didn't fake.
You might have heard about various state AGs, who tried to use their position to push Globular Warmering crap by attacking Exxon Mobil, being ordered to appear in a Texas court. Some of them are basically saying "I'm busy, talk to my secretary and make an appointment", and that's not going over well.
Judge Ed Kinkeade did not explain his reasoning, other than to say in a brief response filed today in Northern District Texas court that “after careful consideration” he was denying “all requested relief.”
...
Exxon Mobil has accused her of moving on the probe for political reasons, and Healey, who has vowed to fight the order, filed a petition with the Fifth Circuit appellate court asking it to intervene and toss out Kinkeade’s demands for her to appear — which she’s slammed as an “abuse of discretion.”
Short version: "How dare you interfere with my schedule and question my actions! I'm being abused!"
This is the same Healey who decided to rewrite state law on 'assault weapons' all on her own.
Wonder how much students are paying to attend this dump site for idiots?
Hey, principal, you don't decide what's public space. Deal with it, you clown.
Short version: "How dare she criticize us! You need to shut her up!"

More higher education crap
Guys, preventing speakers from speaking is not a good idea.
"How dare you let someone we don't like eat at your restaurant!"
I don't care what the defense is, any cops who spend that much time killing dogs need to have that badge removed; not only are they dirtbags, but who knows what other crap they're doing?
No, mobs of Trumpites are not running around committing hate crimes.
And every time one of these idiots makes a fake report, it poisons the air even worse.

Naw, nothing suspicious about this at alllll....
The
Treasury Department on Wednesday refused to confirm or deny the
existence of an inspector general report investigating whether or not
former White House economic adviser Austan Goolsbee illegally accessed
tax information on the Koch brothers.
Subpoena his ass; tell him he's under oath and hand out an indictment if he lies. And subpoena anyone necessary from Treasury and them them the same. AND DO IT.
More from the Most Transparent Administration EVER!
White House officials vetoed all public airing of a video of President Obama thanking the American Library Association Sunday for helping inform the public about Obamacare.
“We were specifically told by the White House to only show it [the video] once to conference attendees, and [the] White House said we aren’t able to send it out,” Jazzy Wright, Press Officer for ALA’s Washington, D.C. office, told the Washington Examiner.
That credentialed clown Tam ran across the other day? He says you shouldn't have to have the same insurance on your car in case somebody steals it and commits a crime because
Guns are inherently dangerous, Dan. Cars are not.
Insty has a theme about people who are 'credentialed, not educated'. I think this idiot fits.
And I love Tam's comment: (Careful picking a fight with the guy; he's got more sheepskins than a condom factory. ;)
Lots of sheepskins, no sense.
Aside from those I've got nuttin'. At all. And I'm hungry.
