and, just in time, the new portfolio arrived.
Amazing, ain't it?

But- I thought the science was settled!
In another blow against decades of accepted medical wisdom, one of the most prestigious, long-running studies reports that lowering sodium intake doesn’t reduce blood pressure.
The study also implies that most Americans are consuming a perfectly healthy amount of salt, the main source of sodium. But those who are salt-sensitive, about 20 to 25 percent of the population, still need to restrict salt intake.
Consuming fewer than 2,500 milligrams of sodium daily is actually associated with higher blood pressure, according to the Framingham Offspring Study report, given today. The American Heart Association recommends consuming no more than 2,300 milligrams of sodium daily, equal to a teaspoon of ordinary iodized table salt.

So, is this bitch liable for incitement when her commie followers try it?

The Seattle City Council passed a unanimous resolution this week which declares May 1 a "day of action" on which city employees are encouraged to attend planned anti-Trump protests instead of going to work.
The resolution—drafted by Councilmember Kshama Sawant, a member of the Socialist Alternative party—instructs supervisors of city government departments to remind their workers that they are entitled to take two days of unpaid leave for "days of faith and conscience," and that attending Monday's protests is a legitimate use of this leave.
and continues with
"If we truly want to build a summer of resistance against Trump and the billionaire class," Sawant said in a Tuesday interview on King5, an NBC affiliate, "then we will need disruptive action like shutting down airports, and shutting down highways."
I imagine a lot of businesses were just bloody thrilled to hear someone on the city council calling for this.
The mayor tried to play both sides, voting for this but saying "We need to keep our freeways and our on and off ramps...the state, of course, needs to keep our on and off ramps open." No condemnation of the call, just this. And am I alone in thinking this is a slimy politician saying "I hope state authorities keep the roads open, so the city police don't have to" ?

Probably nobody will be held responsible; at least not
on the level they should be. At the least this is negligent homicide, at the most murder. And people should hang for it.
Amazing what happens when they start losing money
A radical professor who once wished for “White Genocide” for Christmas and wanted to “vomit” after seeing someone give up their first-class airline seat to a soldier, is currently under investigation by his embattled employer, Drexel University, citing negative coverage that led to fleeing students and donors.
So when concerns about speech and violence and such don't bother them, say "No more money for you as long as you support this crap"; THAT they'll listen to.
"You can trust judges." Really?
In any case, you don’t have to look very far for some evidence that this judge has a partisan streak. Orrick is the same judge who granted a restraining order against the Center for Medical Progress, the group that released undercover videos of Planned Parenthood back in 2015. And according to the Federalist‘s Mollie Hemingway, Orrick was an Obama campaign bundler who collected more than $200,000 for the candidate in 2008. He had also previously raised more than $100,000 for candidate John Kerry in 2004.
From the idiocy that is Oregon: "How dare you call yourself an engineer! Stop showing me that electrical engineering degree, it doesn't count!"

If they're correct, 'rewriting the books' would be an understatement
In a provocative and controversial claim, scientists say a scattering
of bones and stones suggests ancestral humans reached the New World more than 100,000 years earlier than previously thought.
Most genetic and archaeological evidence shows humans first entered the Americas some 15,000 years ago. But a study nearly 25 years in the making in this week’s Nature finds that the 130,000-year-old bones of a mastodon, an extinct relative of the mammoth, unearthed in California were split open with blows from rocks. Rocks discovered near the bones bear the hallmarks of use as hammers, the scientists report.
If correct- and that's a big 'if'- it'd change damn-near everything about how humans got to the Americas, and how, and when.

Why do Democrats hate free speech so much?
I’m afraid this version of Dean’s argument is no more successful than the original.
No kidding.
Yes, Howard, you're still full of shit. Still. I repeat: it's a damn good thing this clown didn't make it to the Oval Office.

These 'progressives' are proving just how regressive they actually are
Borrowing from the Dutchman, I've said it before and I'll repeat: these collectivist pukes are more race-obsessed than the Nazi Gauleiter of 1930's Lower Swabia.
Adding to the stupid,
A Clemson administrator has proposed requiring student government candidates to pass an “intercultural competency” test before being permitted to run for or hold office.
Because nothing says 'inclusiveness' like "You must have the proper approved attitudes or you cannot hold office."
And one more, from a 'vice provost for faculty, arts, humanities, and diversity and a professor of comparative literature' who has a real problem with free speech:
...As a scholar of literature, history and politics, I am especially attuned to the next generation’s demands to revise existing definitions of free speech to accommodate previously delegitimized experiences. Freedom of expression is not an unchanging absolute. When its proponents forget that it requires the vigilant and continuing examination of its parameters, and instead invoke a pure model of free speech that has never existed, the dangers to our democracy are clear and present.
Just think, this asshat is being paid a huge salary to 'teach' this crap.

When God sends the ambulatory bacon after you,
it means he's REALLY ticked-off.
Three Islamic State jihadis have reportedly been killed by rampaging wild boars near Iraqi farmland.
The three Islamic State militants were cut down by the feral boar known to inhabit Kirkuk in the the al-Rashad region, a local news site claims.
They attacked the militants and left three killed, Iraqi News reports.

Two things that'd be horrifying: knowing the actual number of girls so mutilated,
and how little lots of the noisy 'feminists' would have to say about it.
I'm still thinking Gen. Napier method as a way of dealing with this.

Tell me again about this 'settled science' we're supposed to worship
Nutritionists, Leslie explains, had decided that dietary fat was the
enemy of good health, based in large part on a huge Seven Countries
Study, published in 1970, which looked at 12,770 middle-aged men in
countries ranging from the U.S. to Yugoslavia.
"The Seven Countries study had become canonical, and the fat hypothesis was enshrined in official advice," Leslie writes. By 1980, the U.S. government issued its first Dietary Guidelines telling the country to cut back on saturated fats and cholesterol, and Americans dutifully complied.
That's precisely when the nation's obesity rate started to skyrocket. While the obesity rate barely changed from 1960 to 1980 -- going from 13% to 15% -- over the following two decades – 1980-2000 – the rate jumped to 35%.
"At best, we can conclude that the official guidelines did not achieve their objective; at worse, they led to a decades-long health catastrophe," Leslie writes.
Speaking of 'settled science' asshats.

Why I long ago came to the conclusion that refusing to admit/admire beauty because of skin color or
whatever is stupid, demonstrated in a day:
Young lady with red/blonde hair and a few freckles, petite and lovely.
Lady I think was of Thai background, straight black hair, big dark eyes, also petite, just... wow.
Little older lady of India descent, with a face that was stop-you-in-your-tracks lovely with a full figure.
And so on. If you can't find yourself able to admire beauty because of color or race, you really need help.

Watched a guy shooting a pistol in .22TCM;
huge muzzle flash, and the thing roared like a .44 Mag.
I'm going to have to find a way to try one of these.
I'm going to have to find a way to try one of these.
Because she's not black enough.
or not the 'right kind' of black. Or something.
Instead of applauding President Trump for elevating a black, female nurse to the post, leftists attacked Dr. Trent-Adams’ credentials, saying she’s “just a nurse.” Obviously, Trump’s promotion of a black woman doesn’t fit the liberal media narrative that he’s a “racist misogynist.”
Snork.. hehehehehe, I love this.

Ah, socialism!
The uniformed men who shot Mr. Moreno were not government
security forces, witnesses say. Rather, they were members of armed bands who have become key enforcers for President Nicolás Maduro as he
attempts to crush a growing protest movement against his rule.
The groups, called collectives or colectivos in Spanish, originated as pro-government community organizations...
...
As rising foreign debt and falling world oil prices have depleted the Venezuelan government’s coffers, it has increasingly turned to colectivos as enforcers. From labor disputes with unions to student demonstrations on university campuses, colectivos are appearing almost anywhere the government sees citizens getting out of line, Venezuelans say.
Eladio Mata, a hospital union leader, says he was shot last year by colectivo members when negotiations deadlocked with the University Hospital of Caracas.

Remember, citizen: All Cultures Are Equal,
and if you disagree you're a racist and a bigot. And other unpleasant things.
Federal agents arrested a second doctor and his wife Friday in a widening conspiracy involving female genital mutilation and members of a Muslim sect.
Dr. Fakhruddin Attar is accused of letting Dr. Jumana Nagarwala perform mutilations at his Burhani Medical Clinic on Farmington Road. His wife, office manager Farida Attar, also was arrested and is accused of helping Nagarwala perform the mutilations, according to a 14-page complaint unsealed Friday in federal court.
Question: why feds? Why not state authorities arresting them on this?

Well, when the city is run by fascists and followers,
I guess riots and intolerance, and a useless PD, is to be expected.
Berkley Mayor Jesse Arreguin was revealed to be a member of the anti-fascist group, By Any Means Necessary (BAMN), on Facebook. BAMN orchestrated the violence that shut down a scheduled lecture at UC Berkeley featuring Milo Yiannopoulos in early 2017. Arreguin is allegedly also friends with BAMN leader, Yvette Felarca, on Facebook.

Remember Howard Dean? Asshat who ran the Democrat Party for a while? (2nd link corrected)
Mr. "I hate Republicans and everything they stand for"?
Be very glad this asshat didn't make it to the White House.
And a response to this crap from Volokh
Wonder if Dean realizes his comment would be considered hate speech and banned?

Written by a social-justice type, this is still a pretty good piece
on just how the SJBs have trashed the idea of liberalism. Even notes that by writing this critique, the SJBs will go after him for being guilty of all the -isms and -phobias, etc.
And this is the kind of crap that A: has lots of guys dropping out, and B: causes lots of people to distrust the media, C: Causes lots more people to see the SJBs as what they are.
In March, Reuters reached out to me about the most recent study and my quotes were picked up by numerous other media sources. The camera crew wanted me to identify some reasons why I thought Millennials might be choosing to have less sex. I immediately thought of my clients, three young men who each separately had told me earlier in the year that they were terrified of casually hooking up due to fears of false rape accusations and confusion regarding policies such as affirmative consent.
From the reactions of the crew, I could tell right away that I was telling them something they didn’t want to hear. They all looked at each other anxiously and the producer continuously tried to steer me away from the perspective I was sharing of my clients’ experiences and onto some vague narrative about technology, video games, and porn. But unfortunately, the lived experiences of my clients don’t necessarily easily match up with forced narratives created in some media news room.
...
When the video was released online, all comments I had made about the effects of rape culture hysteria on actual hookups were removed, and instead it appeared like I was mindlessly chiming in with all the experts about all the horrible dangers of being “addicted” to Facebook likes. No substantive discussion about the real worries and concerns that young people actually have about hooking up. Only bewildered head shakes about why on earth young people would not want to socialize with their peers in real life. Must be the technology. Rape culture hysteria, well that’s only something actual rapists would be concerned about. Any large-scale trend typically has many contributing factors, so I’m not advocating for a reductionist position, but why not include these concerns as part of the discussion?
In a major victory in the ongoing Lois Lerner scandal at the IRS, non-profit election integrity organization True the Vote defeated an IRS motion to quash discovery in True the Vote v. IRS. The ruling means that everyone involved in the scandal could be compelled to submit every document related to the case and be deposed by True the Vote's legal team.
Good. Now if the judge will start throwing IRS clown in cells when they cause problems, we might get somewhere.
How about telling the EffingBI "Start answering the questions, or go to jail for contempt" ?

Next time someone starts the "Things are SO much better in guns-are-banned-Britain!" crap,
here's some more clubs to beat them with.
More than 800,000 - or one in five - of all crimes reported to the police each year are not being recorded by officers, a report suggests.
Gee, I wonder why that might be...
The problem is greatest for victims of violent crime, with a third going unrecorded. Of sexual offences, 26% are not recorded.
Then there's this:
Violent crime in England and Wales has risen by 24%, including a 9% rise in knife crime and a 7% rise in gun crime in the 12 months to June, according to police recorded crime figures.
The number of murders in England and Wales also jumped 20% to 681, a rise of 144 – the highest level for more than five years. The murder rate includes the 96 killed at Hillsborough in 1989 following the conclusion of the official inquests.
Police figures also show that the number of reported rapes and other sexual offences rose by 14%, reflecting a slowing of the recent increase in reporting rates for these types of crime.
Makes you wonder just what the real numbers are, doesn't it?
This was brought to my attention because Kevin took on a "Things are great here because no guns" Brit once again. Lots of good stuff, go read it.

And yet more reason to say "Trust the EffingBI? Bullshit."
A top FBI official whose wife received political donations from an ally of Hillary Clinton’s last year does not need to recuse himself from the
ongoing Trump-Russia investigation, the bureau said Wednesday.
Oh, of course not[/sarcasm].
Seriously, what the hell? Not that long ago if such an official didn't recuse himself, it'd be done for him to prevent even the appearance of a problem. Now? Effing Comey won't do a thing.
But we're supposed to trust the bastards. Right.
