"I was pissed off then and I am even more so now with everything going on," said former Sgt. Matt Vierkant, a member of Bergdahl's platoon when he went missing on June 30, 2009. "Bowe Bergdahl deserted during a time of war and his fellow Americans lost their lives searching for him."
And the excuse for the exchange?
“This is the only issue we’ve discussed with the Taliban in recent months,” said one senior Obama administration official involved in the talks. “We do hope that having succeeded in this narrow but important step, it will create the possibility of expanding the dialogue to other issues. But we don’t have any promises to that effect.”...
Which raises several questions. Negotiating with terrorists and returning 5 of the worst terrorists at GTMO — is that “stupid shit”? Violating a law requiring Congress to be informed ahead of time, and justifying that violation by citing the poor health of a guy who by all accounts is perfectly fine — is that “stupid shit”?
And the act of repeatedly sending out Susan Rice to lie to the American people about our feckless dealings with terrorists — is that “stupid shit”?
'expanding the dialogue'... these idiots actually think they can dialogue with people who want us all dead or enslaved...

Those Taliban were "terrorists" the same way the French Resistance, the Eastern European Partisans and the Filipino Guerrillas were terrorists. They were fighting the invasion of their homeland.
"No man left behind" Unless you don't like his political views or the religion of his father.
Yes, people who murder women for being out alone or showing too much ankle, and murder/torture/mutilate girls for the crime of going to school, and murder allies because "God says so" are fucking terrorists. Deal with it.
Not to mention they were doing this stuff BEFORE we went it.

Why wouldn't they? They agree on so many things.
Negotiating with terrorists is like chickens negotiating with Colonel Sanders or Purdue or Foster Farms. The best you can hope to get is "not today, because it suits our purposes. No promises about tomorrow."
Bergdahl sounds like he caught "Sudden Jihadi Syndrome", and soldiers died of it.
And if the Taliban have not been beating, mutilating and murdering women for being out alone or showing too much ankle, or for the crime of going to school, it's only because there have been people these last few years seeking to end their illegitimate rule, just as people took up arms to end the ownership of people (and I am not referring only to the American Civil War -- The British did their part, too).
