"Nobody want to take your guns, wingnut" Until they do.

"Democrats in Missouri introduced startling anti-gun legislation that would require gun owners to hand over their legally purchased so-called “assault weapons”  to “the appropriate law enforcement agency for destruction” within 90 days.

Under the proposed bill, “Any person who, prior to the effective date of this law, was legally in possession of an assault weapon or large capacity magazine shall have ninety days from such effective date to do any of the following without being subject to prosecution.”

Much like the idiots in CT, "We have now decided that you peasants can't be trusted with those things you've owned for years, so hand them in!"

Is there a chance in hell of this passing? With MO being the Deep South, my first inclination is to say "nope", but the fact that this was introduced at all gives me pause.

I doubt it, but Missouri has a history of some really nasty dealing on firearms. Few years back a guy wrote about some of this on getting CCW there, I'll see if I can find it.

I'd like to point out that bill was from last year and it died quickly in committee.

While bills such as this have little chance of passing in most states in from the coasts they DO however provide some MUCH needed intel. They are shining beacons of communist intent lit by the people infesting office that MUST be removed. Whenever some douchnozzle(s) propose such legislation it should become priority ONE to have those people voted out of office at the VERY NEXT ELECTION. When political hacks realize that even proposing such laws, even if they never make it to a vote, will cost them their office they won't write them. But since they suffer no penalty for trying they persist.
They realize that 2A supporters have to win 100% of the time to win. If they succeed even 1 out of a hundred tries on this type of evil eventually they will triumph completely.
