Now being most thoroughly overheated and humidified,

I'm going to sit on my ass and look at the news. Like idiot commentators who just don't- well, read:
The latest is Nicholas Kristof of the New York Times. Reviewing Ayaan’s new book Nomad, he begins:
“She has managed to outrage more people—in some cases to the point that they want to assassinate her—in more languages in more countries on more continents than almost any writer in the world today. Now Hirsi Ali is working on antagonizing even more people in yet another memoir.”
That’s his opening pitch: if there are those who wish to kill her, it’s her fault because she’s a provocateuse who’s found a lucrative shtick in “working on antagonizing” people. The Times headlines Kristof’s review “The Gadfly,” as if she’s a less raddled and corpulent Gore Vidal. In fact, she wrote a screenplay for a film; Muslim belligerents threatened to kill her and her director; they made good on one half of that threat. This isn’t shtick
.
She dares to speak against a protected species, therefore the 'feminists' and 'brave' media weenies either ignore her or denigrate her.

An interview with Ali here.

A piece by a clown named Wheatcroft on how Obama doesn't like Britain. And how Wheatcroft doesn't like the US as an extra. Um, Wheatcroft? Everybody has already realized that Obama doesn't like Britain, so this is nothing new. As to your dislike of us, well, screw you.

Oh, I'd flat LOVE to see this:
And here’s a policy suggestion that I offer free and for nothing. If New York offers its citizens IOUs instead cash, citizens should do the same come April. After wading through the pages of gibberish that our legislators have thoughtfully provided under the rubric of your tax returns, they should enter the amount owed, sign on the dotted line, and enclose an IOU instead of a check. If an irresponsible and fiscally incontinent state can hold on to your money (and you should never forget that it is your money), then you are justified in practicing a little self-defense and treating the state with a little of the contempt with which it treats you. If five or ten or a hundred people did it, it wouldn’t make much difference. What if five or ten thousand people did?
Gov. Paterson would crap his pants in indignation and fear. That's what'd happen.
Speaking of Paterson & Co., if a private company tried this, those responsible would probably be in jail.

Ace has videos of deaf people hearing- sometimes for the first time- after a cochlear implant. Guess what? Some idiots are against it:
But despite its benefits CI is very controversial in the deaf community with many of them seeing it as an attack on their culture or even 'cultural genocide'. In fact the National Association of the Deaf says its stance on cochlear implants is based on its belief that “many within the medical profession continue to view deafness essentially as a disability and an abnormality and believe that deaf and hard of hearing individuals need to be “fixed” by cochlear implants.”
Well, guess what? Deafness IS a disability, you morons. Wanting to prevent people from getting their hearing back- or getting it at all- is insane, and you're a fool.

For a couple of minutes of pure awesome: Navy drill team, '03 rifles with fixed bayonets.

The rabbi who got the Helen Thomas video is getting hate mail and death threats(no surprise), but also idiot leftists(definition of idiot leftist: Olbermann) are attacking him for daring to take and release the video.
Speaking of idiot leftists,
Meanwhile, Rosie O'Donnell rose to Thomas' defense, saying that "what [Thomas] was saying was not go back to the ovens ... what she was saying is the homeland was originally Palestinians, and that it's now occupied by Israel and that Palestinians should be afforded human and civil rights."
I don't know if this fool simply doesn't know where Jews came from originally, or lies because she hates them. Or just wants them dead because they upset the animals. Or something.

One more reason to avoid doing any business with PayPal: they're on the other side.

Saudi Arabia has conducted tests to stand down its air defences to enable Israeli jets to make a bombing raid on Iran’s nuclear facilities, The Times can reveal.

In the week that the UN Security Council imposed a new round of sanctions on Tehran, defence sources in the Gulf say that Riyadh has agreed to allow Israel to use a narrow corridor of its airspace in the north of the country to shorten the distance for a bombing run on Iran
.
This should tell you something about how serious the idea of Iran with nukes is, if you didn't already know.

The latest Obamacare lie exposure:
Internal administration documents reveal that up to 51% of employers may have to relinquish their current health care coverage because of ObamaCare.

Small firms will be even likelier to lose existing plans.

The “midrange estimate is that 66% of small employer plans and 45% of large employer plans will relinquish their grandfathered status by the end of 2013,” according to the document.

In the worst-case scenario, 69% of employers — 80% of smaller firms — would lose that status, exposing them to far more provisions under the new health law
.

Speaking of The Lightworker,
CNN reported tonight (CNN?) that President Obama skipped the Memorial Service for the 11 workers who died in the Deepwater Horizon explosion because he was attending a fundraiser for Barbara Boxer.

'The most competent administration', etc.
Oil boom manufacture Packgen has miles of floating oil containment boom in warehouse right now and they say they can make lots more on short notice. Packgen owner John Lapoint said his company is ramping up production to make 90,000 feet of oil boom per day.

But, there’s a hitch. The company notified the government 4 WEEKS AGO that they have oil boom but they they won’t buy it. BP sent representatives 4 weeks ago to check out the manufacturer and they are going to send representatives again this week. The boom is sitting in a warehouse as the coastline is destroyed
.

You want to know what level of PC wusses are in charge in some of Canada?
In yet another nod to the protection of fledgling self-esteem, an Ottawa children’s soccer league has introduced a rule that says any team that wins a game by more than five points will lose by default.

The Gloucester Dragons Recreational Soccer league’s newly implemented edict is intended to dissuade a runaway game in favour of sportsmanship. The rule replaces its five-point mercy regulation, whereby any points scored beyond a five-point differential would not be registered
.
Listen to this shit:
“The registration fee, rergardless of the sport, does not give a parent the right to insult or belittle the organization,” he said. “It gives you a uniform, it gives you a team.”

Mr. Cale said the league’s 12-person board of directors is not trying to take the fun out of the game, they are simply trying to make it fair. The new rule, suggested by “involved parents,” is a temporary measure that will be replaced by a pre-season skill assessment to make fair teams
.
So it's 'fair' to penalize a team that plays for all its worth; it's 'fair' to screw a bunch of kids who play to win?
Fuck you, Mr. Cale. You're screwing ALL those kids, whether you have the brains or integrity to realize it or not.

And just because I like it,

Hardly a fool.

If we can cure deafness, there will no longer be a market for 'the National Association of the Deaf'.

What'll they do then, make buggy whips?

In the case of the NAD, possibly not; though the goal of any such organization SHOULD be to put themselves out of business.

The other idiots? Fools, and sometimes right on the edge of evil. Remember the two lesbians who were deaf? Decided to have a baby and deliberately sought out a deaf sperm donor because they WANTED the baby to be deaf; so it would 'experience the deaf culture' with them. They bought out to have been lashed in the city square for working to bring forth a handicapped kid.

A new book from Ayaan. I'll have to get that.

The Geek has a link to a post by one of Ayaan's colleagues. Seems it costs a fortune to keep her in body guards.

Now for illiberal, sexist and un-reconstructed comment. I think Ayaan is HOT!
