I'll note that Ed Shadid, the guy running for mayor who won't answer the question,

lost.  The current mayor won re-election; not my favorite guy, but kept Shadid out of the seat.


There was a bill in Colorado to get rid of that idiot expanded background check law.  How do they argue against it?

They lie.  It's what they do.
However, while in front of the committee, Sloan did not disclose that the figures he quoted included 2,361 background checks done at gun shows and for persons transferring guns in from out of state Internet-based sales, both of which were required by law before the post-Sandy Hook expanded background check measure was implemented. 

In actuality there were only 3,838 non-gun-show private background checks performed by CBI in the last half of 2013, according to the Associated Press which obtained this information in a release after business hours last Friday. 

 “It’s alarming that these were presented in such a way in committee to substantiate the Democrats desire to kill this bill,” Senate Republican Leader Bill Cadman, (R-12), said in a statement to Guns.com.

Ed Shadid does NOT want to answer that question

Some of you may remember my quest to get Ed Shadid, who's running for OKC Mayor, to answer a question.

As of now, a month later, still no answer from asking the question on his website.  So I looked up his bookface page and asked that and another question:
First, when you were running for City Council a OCPD officer was shot by an illegal alien using a AR15 rifle, and Chief Citty stated that 'people who own such guns should have to register them.' Do you agree with Chief Citty? 

Second, are you accepting any donations or assistance from Mayors Against Illegal Guns or other such organizations?
That was earlier this morning; the question is still there, but there's no answer.  We'll see if get one.

Seems Ed Shadid still doesn't want to answer that question

Local politics: Ed Shadid is a city councilman now running for mayor.  Back when he was running for the council I asked a question: the police chief thought anyone owning a politically-incorrect firearm should have to register it, and a couple of current council members agreed(one after announcing he wasn't running for reelection as I recall), do YOU agree with this?
Background: a PD officer had been shot by an illegal alien using a AR15.  I can't remember if the CoP said anything about cracking down on illegal aliens, but he wanted some gun registration.

As the original post notes, one of the two gave a flat 'I disagree with the police chief.'  Shadid gave this:
I apologize in the delay of response. I heard the comments by the Chief and Police and have been thinking a lot about it lately. We need to have a balance between public safety and the right to bear arms. Our constitution was designed to protect rights not take away from them. Let me know if I can ever be of service. Thanks for you questions.
See the problem there?  So I sent back Sir, maybe I should have phrased the question differently: do you agree with the Police Chief on this?
No answer.  Ever.

Now he's announced "I want to be Mayor", so I found his website and asked the question.
Guess what?
More than two weeks now, no response at all.  Either they're ignoring it, or they just don't want to answer that question.  So I checked, and he does indeed have a Bookface page, so I just posted this:
A question, sir:

We'll see if there's an answer, or if it disappears.

In local news, we had a city councilman named Skip Kelly who got busted

for drunk driving for the second time.
A: He's not resigning, 'I work very hard', etc.
B: The rest of the coucil is being 'very supportive', including this from Ed Shadid:
“Much of the public does not understand the magnitude or the nature of these problems, (and people) do not understand how commonplace this is (and), how it is affecting all of us,” Shadid said. “I have seen exceptional courage and bravery on Skip Kelly's part in the last few days. I'm very proud to call him my friend, and I'm very proud of him. ... He's been very high-functioning, in my opinion, with one arm tied behind his back. I'd like to see what happens in the future when he has an even playing field.”
Awww, isn't that sweet and sensitive? I wonder if he thinks the same way about people not council-members or friends caught driving drunk? Twice?

one of the people running for City Council, never has answered my last question.

If you're not familiar with this, a while back I sent to him and another candidate asking if they agreed with the CoP that anyone who owns a 'assault weapon' should have to register it. The other guy, Swinton, said he disagreed with the Chief. This is what I got from Shadid:

A bothersome answer; usually when a politician says something like that he means "I agree with the Chief but don't have the guts to say it flat-out." So I sent back
Sir, maybe I should have phrased the question differently: do you agree with the Police Chief on this?
And so far no answer at all. Which could mean they're backed up and haven't gotten to it; more likely he just doesn't want to answer a 'yes or no' question on the matter.

The two in question are Charlie Swinton and Ed Shadid. The question: remembering that the Chief of Police and a couple of city councilmen said they liked the idea of forcing us peasants to register anything classed as an 'assault weapon', I wrote to both and asked
What is your opinion on this?

I've written twice; no answer from either of them either time.

So, the possibilities are
They're backed-up on questions and haven't see this e-mail(unlikely);
They don't think the question is worth answering(somewhat unlikely, and if this is it it pisses me off);
They figure whatever they answer they'll tick somebody off and don't have the guts to deal with that.

Update: came home from working on my heart health to find this reply from Swinton:

So I have a reply from one, good on him for answering.

Which says basically nothing, with a possible lean toward "Would registration be so bad?" So I just sent back 'Do you agree with the Police Chief?' We'll see what he says.
That kind of answer from a former governor is what started me in my ever-since low regard for politicians.
