Friday has arrived

So has the new data

Messing and McCormack are backtracking something fierce,

including some pretend apologies, after getting kicked back at hard by a lot of people.  Guess they figured they were immune to blowback.

From another actor:
"Let me just say I’m embarrassed for both of them because I know them both, I’ve worked with Debra before. They’re both smart people... they do wonderful work,” he explained. “But, they’re pushing a case that falls apart from the sheer weight of its lunacy, as though the Hollywood community needs to be purged of this social and intellectual hygiene problem called conservative thinking. It underscores the fact that we aren’t receptive to a diversity of thought which is the exact opposite of what you feel the liberal way would be, and I find that obscene."
It is.  These people have become so used to being in the echo chamber of Hollyweird that it's a real nasty surprise to have people telling them "Are you out of your damned mind?"

It seems it was a town hall of "We should control what you eat,

use, We should control everything in your life for the good of the Earth."

Including banning oil and coal...

For the ones that actually believe in this crap, I wonder what plans they have to replace it?  Not just the energy, but everything else produced from it?  Like the fertilizer they'd need to attempt to grow the plant products they seem to think can replace petroleum for lost of uses?

Or is planning ahead something they can't do?  Or just don't care about as long as they're pandering to enough(they hope) voters?

Another big question: those of these idiots that are True Believers, do they not care about the losses and deaths as long as they're Saving Mother Gaia?

About those bastards with special protection

who hate the idea of the commoners protecting themselves, from a post at Fecesbook by Matthew,
Ocasio-Cortez got into a twitter-feud with Dan Crenshaw over background checks.

"Why are you 'lending' guns to people unsupervised who can't pass a basic background check?" she asked. "... Why on earth would you do that?"

She further stated that this is how "abusers" can get ahold of guns.

So having worked, literally a countless number of stalking and adult abuse situations for the better part of twenty-five years, the last thing women need in an emergency situation where they desperately need to be able to borrow a firearm for personal protection is the fucking federal government.
Go talk to women who have survived rape.
Go talk to women who have been stalked.
Go talk to women who live in fear of being killed by an ex-husband or abusive ex-boyfriend.
Because I have.

And every one, every-single, damn one of them, regardless of how they vote ask me the same thing, "where can I get a gun?, Where can I get training?, can someone loan me a gun, until....until I can SAVE up money to buy one?"

These sons of bitches who work in Washington and are safe guarded every single damn day by sub-machine guns have the fucking audacity to deny people who may not have affordable access to personal protection and literally need to borrow a pistol, or shotgun so they aren't killed by some asshole looking to terrorize, rape and kill them.

Gun control is rooted in racism, and while I understand some of you think it's going to solve something, it's not.
There's more, and it's all gold.  If you're on said Fecesbook, it's located here.

Dolly Parton has probably done more good for kids

than every asshat activist trying to 'improve' education by making it easier to fail up.

And with her own money.

First, anyone who would do this to a family

because "They didn't vote the right way" is one sorry shit of a human being.

"Hey, here's an easy way to fuck up a family for the parents being guilty of wrongthink."
God...

Second, if you think these assholes wouldn't use red flag laws the same way...

There's a park not too far from the house,

and ride the bicycle over there.  There's a pair of Mississippi Kites there, every year, looks like they nest in the area.
I need to take my camera along, see if can get better pictures, the phone images get pixilated when you try to zoom in at a distance.

I hate saying this, but it's still true:

Anyone who trusts the DoJ or FBI(or most any other agency anymore) about anything is a fool.

This is taking "We have investigated ourselves" to a really stupid level.  And yet this is supposed to be comforting to us.  For some reason.

'Shoot until the threat is ended' is the rule if you have ot fire,

and follow that up with "NEVER assume it's over until it's actually over."

When it went to hell, it went fast.  And notice that, even with at least one bullet wound, the bad guy got back up fast and attacked.

The rule I've heard is that, no matter how hurt and pitiful an attacker may look, keep your distance.  This is why.

It didn't rain all day!

There may be hope of mowing on Monday, and reducing the field height.  In the meantime,  to distract from the chores to come,

'Higher' Education at Evergreen

Stick through all of that and you’ll get to the student shouting, “You need to stop demanding that everybody use logic and reasons and white forms of knowledge to f**king prove yourself to the world.”

I’m certain that this argument is not winning over a world full of black engineers and scientists, but I worry that this nonsense is winning over a lot of college students who don’t yet know enough to realize how silly it sounds.
'Silly' isn't the word; better choices would've been 'idiotic', 'stupid', or 'insane'.

From the VA that Occasional-Cortex thinks is so wonderful

On the Fayetteville campus, rated one of VA’s best, Levy’s supervisors failed to heed early warnings that he was endangering patients and then were slow to act, according to internal VA documents, court filings and interviews with 20 congressional officials, veterans and current and former VA employees.

Federal prosecutors charged Levy, 53, last week with three counts of involuntary manslaughter in the deaths of three veterans. VA officials now acknowledge that he botched diagnoses of at least15 patients who later died and 15 others whose health was seriously harmed.

The number of those affected, however, is much greater, and the full repercussions of Levy’s actions may not be known for years. VA officials say Levy made 3,000 errors or misdiagnoses dating to 2005.
Which probably means nothing to her, because- apparently- 'run by the government' covers all sins.  Including dead patients.

Friday again

Weather's calmed down, new data to look over

Why we call it the Dark & Fascist State of New Jersey:

“I don’t talk to fucking Jews,” Dye told the New Jersey Globe during a very brief telephone interview. “Get the fuck out of here.”

Dye was fired from his job with the state Department of Labor and Workforce Development last week after the Globe reported that he had made anti-Semitic and anti-Latino comments on his personal Facebook page.

The president of the NAACP New Jersey Conference, Richard T. Smith, told the Globe that no decision has been made about Dye’s future.
'No decision' probably means "Can we talk him into leaving so we don't have to throw him out?"

And you know that if Dye had a 'R' in his political affiliation, these same people would be screaming for him to be thrown out.

You really need to read his explanation; it makes this all so much better.

"Trust the feds? Why would I do that?" Part 87

Report finds Comey violated the hell out of, well, EVERYTHING. But they won't prosecute him, so the asshole is claiming the report exonerated him.

Remember the judge in the Ted Stevens case? Found the prosecutors broke laws, violated legal ethics, the whole works, and chewed them out publicly. But actually PUNISH them(disbarment recommendation, criminal charges for the laws they broke)? Nope. Those corrupt bastards are not only still at the Do'J', they worked on Mueller's group.

Yeah, we can trust the 'Justice' Department.

Someone said "History doesn't repeat,

but it rhymes."  Looking at this, there's not much rhyme but a lot of repeat.
...When (conveniently) castigating our forefathers (therefore) for allowing slavery to have lasted so long, or for having slaves at all, or for "introducing" slavery to the American continent, I wonder if leftists realize that one of the reasons it persisted was the Democrat Party's opposition to… (wait for it)… to… hate speech.

And the practitioners of hate speech (the abolitionists) were considered unethical, unrealistic, delusional crazies, who deserve little else but the utmost disgust — you might even say that they were the equivalent of today's demonized Tea Partiers.

Don't believe me?

Think that sounds far-fetched? Or too far-fetched?

Ask Abraham Lincoln.
I've known about the debates, but I've never read them; looks like I should have.
… the fathers of the Government expected and intended the institution of slavery to come to an end. They expected and intended that it should be in the course of ultimate extinction. … It is not true that our fathers, as Judge Douglas assumes, made this Government part slave and part free. Understand the sense in which he puts it. He assumes that slavery is a rightful thing within itself,—was introduced by the framers of the Constitution. The exact truth is, that they found the institution existing among us, and they left it as they found it. But in making the Government they left this institution with many clear marks of disapprobation upon it. They found slavery among them, and they left it among them because of the difficulty—the absolute impossibility—of its immediate removal. And when Judge Douglas asks me why we cannot let it remain part slave and part free, as the fathers of the Government made it, he asks a question based upon an assumption which is itself a falsehood …

He has an answer to 'Why hasn't Mann been fired?',

and he's fairly brutal about it.  Rightly so.  And anyone who says "But he's not a real scientist!" didn't bother to look at his background, or is an idiot.
His letter is long, and damning for today's scientific establishment.  And he specifically discusses Dr. Mann, and why Penn State did not (and will not) take any action against him:

Some have held that the physicists of today are not as smart as they used to be, but I don’t think that is an issue. I think it is the money, exactly what Eisenhower warned about a half-century ago. There are indeed trillions of dollars involved, to say nothing of the fame and glory (and frequent trips to exotic islands) that go with being a member of the club. Your own Physics Department (of which you are chairman) would lose millions a year if the global warming bubble burst. When Penn State absolved Mike Mann of wrongdoing, and the University of East Anglia did the same for Phil Jones, they cannot have been unaware of the financial penalty for doing otherwise.
Borepatch has a lot more in the post.

From the craphole where Great Britain used to be

On Friday morning, the UK’s Essex Police Department shared a photograph of an “Only Cowards Carry” Knife Bin on Facebook (shown below), where nearby residents are urged to deposit their knives in the name of combating knife crime.

Late Friday evening, KnifeNews shared the post via our Facebook and Instagram pages. The post disappeared on Facebook after it generated hundreds of angry reactions and comments criticizing the absurdity of the bins and the notion that only cowards carry pocket knives. It’s unclear exactly when Essex Police deleted their original post, but it was still visible on KnifeNews’ Facebook page as late as Saturday afternoon.
Apparently being told they're a bunch of hoplophobic control freaks and idiots scared of a basic tool didn't go over well.

But wait!  Being (formerly Great)Britain, there's MORE!
But they didn’t stop there. Apparently, a representative of Only Cowards Carry, the organization backed by local police and that administers the bin program, is not satisfied just collecting pocket knives. They are now urging citizens to surrender their kitchen knives as well. “I urge everybody to keep an eye on what they have in their kitchen and dispose of it properly,” they say.
Holy effing shit.

Because nobody ever needs a knife in the kitchen.  Or something.

Britain has become that place you cannot parody, because they take care of that themselves.

Surprise!

At least one camera in the hallway outside the cell where authorities say registered sex offender Jeffrey Epstein hanged himself earlier this month had footage that is unusable, although other, clearer footage was captured in the area, according to three people briefed on the evidence gathered earlier this month.

This kid of crap is why so much of law enforcement

has lost trust:
...At a press conference Friday, Acevedo said Gerald Goines, the officer who instigated the raid by falsely claiming that a confidential informant had bought heroin from Tuttle at the house the day before, and Steven Bryant, who bolstered Goines' cover story, had "dishonored" their badges and the Houston Police Department (HPD). But Acevedo insisted that the other officers who participated in the raid had "acted in good faith" and killed the couple in self-defense.
"Just because it was a BS warrant, and the people thought criminals were breaking into their house, doesn't mean the officers didn't do a good job."
Seriously.

Acevedo, who initially defended the raid and described Goines as a hero, wants credit for investigating this fiasco. But he also wants us to believe that the fraud committed by Goines and Bryant, both of whom retired after the raid, does not implicate their colleagues in Narcotics Squad 15 or suggest broader problems in the HPD Narcotics Division. "I don't have any indication it's a pattern and practice," Acevedo said three weeks after the raid, by which time the Houston Chronicle and other local news outlets had noted Goines' history of alleged testilying and sloppy evidence handling.
I'm going to have to call bullshit.  I can't believe nobody else noticed anything(at the least) about the crap these clowns were pulling.  The Chief is trying to protect the reputation of the department with this noise, when it'd be much better served by "I'm going to find out who knew what, and anyone involved in this, including 'I knew it was going on but I never actually took part in the lying and evidence planting' is going to be fired."  But the chances of that are just about zero.

Ogg, by contrast, says her office is continuing to investigate the integrity of Squad 15 by reviewing more than 14,000 cases it has generated. "While today the focus is on Gerald Goines and Steven Bryant, there may be more to the story," she said on Friday. "The purpose of the broader investigation of Gerald Goines' past cases and of the squad's ties to these 14,000 different cases is…to determine if this was a single act by rogue officers or whether it's part of a greater and pre-existing problem in that squad or that division."
Good.  Because both those involved need to be nailed, and those not need to be cleared by an actual investigation.

So you've got a chief playing "Everyone else is fine, nothing to worry about" when what's really needed is a serious house cleaning.  Which is standard bureaucrat 'make the problem seem to go away, don't worry about actually fixing it'.  Yeah, that'll work out great in the long run.
