When it went to hell, it went fast. And notice that, even with at least one bullet wound, the bad guy got back up fast and attacked.
The rule I've heard is that, no matter how hurt and pitiful an attacker may look, keep your distance. This is why.

As good an argument as I've seen for the need to move up from those damn plastic toys to .45 or 10mm.
What bothered me the most was that they KEPT backing, on and on. For a bit there they were in a stretch of road that put houses out of sight, but by the time it went to hell they were back in an intersection with houses around.
I understand not wanting to shoot, but had to stop him sometime, seems like that stretch of road would've been a better place.

Looks like from the guy walking in the door, weapon out, and the end of the shooting is right about ten seconds. Applause to the clerk for being alert enough to see the opportunity, and decisive enough to act on it.
