James Lowman, chief executive of the Association of Convenience Stores, said: 'Many retailers have to deal with shop theft on a regular basis, and in far too many cases challenging thieves leads to abuse and violence.
'The police need to respond to theft rather than putting shop owners and staff at further risk when making citizen's arrests. Any indication that retailers are being left on their own to deal with potentially dangerous criminals is irresponsible.'
Not to mention the probability of the cops winding up charging some shopkeeper or employee with a crime for daring to grab a thief or vandal.

The Sweet Thoughts boss in Dorset said he took action after police failed to investigate, despite being offered the footage. But he claims officers have now warned him he could be fined for the posters.

"If you get a good liver or kidney shot, it's pretty much crippling them," the Antifa instructor said. "They're going to be pretty much doubled over and in a lot of pain."
The instructor also recommended breaking one of the floating ribs to cause maximum pain in a victim. "It's hard to move after that -- to catch a breath," he added helpfully. He told the activists that once the target is incapacitated, they can either run away or "really put a beating on them" if they want to "make it personal."
The instructor said if they don't knock the victim out, they should punch him in the nose or poke him in the eyes.
So they're specifically planning attacks that can kill and cripple people. After which they'll proclaim to the court "The fascists made us do it! We're the victims!" and other such bullshit.
This crap is NOT going to end well.

Well, that worked
One of the things I changed on the Sharps was mounting a Lyman 17A sight in front, which would allow me to use different inserts and would keep the sun off them(I'd had problems with reflection from the original front sight at times).
One of the side effects was that the original-style rear sight on the barrel now shot WAY low, the Lyman sight being much taller than the original. There's no way to adjust elevation on it except to lift it up and use the ladder. So, a bit of modification was in order.
This involved finding a suitable-thickness piece of steel, and cutting a piece that duplicated the buckhorn of the original, but much taller, soldering it on, then bluing it.

Had a chance to shoot this the other day
First thing: that grip may suit Mr. Miculek, but it did not work well with my hand. Happily, the owner had the set of Pachmayr grips he uses and we changed to them; BIG difference for me.
Accuracy and handling? Very nice; the front sight has a brass bead implanted, and it works very well for the purpose of putting shots where you want them. The trigger, as mentioned, was quite nice. Reminded me of why I like revolvers.* Reloading with clips is fast: open the cylinder, eject the empty, drop in a full one, close.
So: it's a big, serious pistol firing a serious cartridge, with beautiful fit and finish and a smooth, fast action.
Downsides? It's big, for concealed carry too much so for some.
Moon clips can be a pain to unload/reload; if you don't have a tool for it(there are several), much more so.

It's a good one. And it's Earl Harbinger approved.
*I was an adult before I fired any semi-auto handguns. Not because of dislike, because of opportunity. I still point-shoot better with a revolver than a semi.

My, that was fun
Today, after the last few days of busy/frustration/worry, a chance to hit the range came along, and one of the things tested was the .310 Cadet at 200 yards.

But after covering the attacks for only one day, ABC’s World News Tonight and NBC Nightly News decided to not only skip CBS’s findings, but also skipped reporting on the shooting all together Tuesday evening.
CBS’s findings were in direct contradiction to Canadian authorities that were telling the press they had found no connection between the shooter and terrorism. “The Ministry of Public Safety said Tuesday that they see no link to terrorism,” the CBSNews.com piece wrote. “But a law enforcement source told CBS News that Faisal Hussain visited Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) websites and may have expressed support for the terrorist group.”
