They're not in trouble for standing down. They're in trouble for sending them through an exit that didn't work out.
It's an affirmative act, not an omission, that they are on the hook for. That's not going to change anything, I think.

No matter the outcome of the court case neither the badgemonkeys NOR the politicians holding their leashes will suffer ANY CONSEQUENCES. The cost of the investigations.....paid for by tax dollars. The cost of the courtroom and trial.... paid for by tax dollars. The cost of the attorneys representing the cops and the politicians.....paid for by tax dollars. The cost of any settlement the plaintiffs might receive.......PAID FOR ONCE AGAIN by the long suffering taxpayer.
It NEVER matters how evil, egregious or abusive the misconduct of LEO or politicians is....ANY legal consequences....which are rare....are always paid for
out of the pockets of the taxpayer.
