The New England Journal of Medicine published a piece titled “Jason Arday and the Perils of Being Black in Academia,” where author and MD Kemi Doll argues, “I want to be clear that I don’t care whether any of these allegations against Prof. Arday were true. None of them were worth his career.” Clearly stating that academic integrity should not matter because Arday was black.
Holy shit. The level of arrogance and "How dare you question anyone We have approved of" is amazing.
Of course, as the man notes,
In December of that year, conservative journalist and activist Christopher Rufo published evidence and accusations of serial plagiarism by Gay, a black woman, throughout her academic career. Rufo’s initial reporting was picked up by The Washington Free Beacon and the New York Post but was largely ignored by other mainstream media outlets like The New York Times and the Washington Post. It was largely ignored similarly in mainstream broadcast networks like CNN, MSNBC, NBC, and ABC.
Gay resigned as president of Harvard in January 2024. She remains on staff today, and her personal arc did not take the dark turn that Arday’s did, but what if it had?
Just like with the followers of and apologists for Arday, they'd be trying to shut down people who dared reveal the 'improper' past of a Protected Person.
These people cannot be trusted at all, anymore than the Professional Journalists can.
