I have had the fun, the last couple of days, of a new phone
Finding one, getting it and a new plan, and then trying to remember what phone numbers I can, and trying to find the rest. That's going to take a while.
Come Monday, lots of places to call and say "Here is my new number." Which will also be fun.
And no, I couldn't recover any files, when the old one broke, it BROKE.
Oh, and there's the different ways to do things on the new one. Blah.
Verizon offers such a plan. Texts, photos, contact list, and more, all backed up to the cloud.
So imagine how great my dismay when nothing from my phone which died suddenly could be retrieved. How did that happen?
My account was never in arrears. At regular intervals I would review the phone settings that they were still as I wished. Sometimes, some settings would be turned off, or on, as the case may be. None of the changes by me.
Aha! There was the answer. A Verizon rep confirmed to me that they will disable connection to the cloud dependant to a variety of conditions. Oh, but don't think they'll refund the dough you paid for that service.

Cant fix the past, but most carriers offer data backup for pretty cheap.
I mean, that $2 a month seems like a lot until you need it. Then it's cheap. Picture, telephone numbers, etc.
Plus your old number should be portable to your new phone.
