I hate having my eyes dilated
Takes hours for the effect to wear off, and makes it hard to do much of anything

My optician gives me a choice: (1) dilation, etc. charge covered by insurance (2) some sort of intergalactic retinal photo, for $30 out of pocket. I always take number 2, having had the same feelings about the aftereffects of the dilation.
I just take the day off when I get mine dilated, I know I won't get anything done. Find a dark room to hide in for 6-8 hours and listen to some good music.

At least with psychedelics you get an entertaining few hours to go with your dilated pupils.
