Other day a couple of the usual suspects were whining that it's the fault of the US that Venezuela is in the toilet. Just like they blame us for Cuba being in the toilet. No socialist can do wrong for these idiots, no matter how many bodies and how much misery pile up.

But wait, there’s more! Not satisfied with acting like a bunch of spoiled Oxbridge brats determined to “no platform” those nasty foreigners, British authorities then took the step of detaining and banning the Canadian conservative activist Lauren Southern from the country on Sunday, holding her and interrogating her in a detention facility for six hours before sending her to France. Fortunately, I happen to be friends with Southern, and so got a window into the experience from her.
Have I ever mentioned how glad I am that some of my ancestors got the hell out of those islands?

My mother, an Air Force bride from the 50s, was one of the most outspoken women that I’ve ever known - she had moved back to Norwich back in the 90s after my stepdad passed away - and was horrified at what had happened to her birth country.
But she was always proud to tell people that she was a naturalized Texan!
