A historical piece on an invention that was important,

but cavalry did work before it: stirrups.

And then,

Remember I mentioned a while back 'Family stuff,

little bloggage?

A new one fell on me, so there's been even less.  Hopefully things will settle a bit in the near future.  In the meantime,

More tab clearing,

because I've got a lot of stuff saved up

Another judge just told BATFEIEIO to knock it off

Franklin Armory presented a square peg, and ATF shoved it into a round hole. If Congress wanted “shotgun” to be a catch-all category for anything that doesn’t fit “rifle,” it could have done so. . . . . It is not for ATF to redefine the terms because it thinks Congress didn’t intend a certain outcome. Therefore, ATF exceeded its authority in defining “smoothbore” as anything lacking “functional rifling.”
This is going to make some of their other crap even worse to try to defend in the future.

Hamas is vermin,

rabid vermin at that.  And I'm including the 'civilian' Gaza dwellers who just loved this crap.

More on the vermin convention here.

Mother and kids murdered, likely including rape first, and claiming "They were killed in a Israeli strike using US weapons"; "Not OUR fault" again.

To Israel, I know you desperately want to get any living hostages back; but you can't count on them not murdering any left alive to do the same kind of show.  Making this deal just let a bunch of Hamas personnel take off the clothes they'd been hiding behind and put the uniforms back on, to march around cheering their 'victory'.

What they did was, again, evil.  The real thing.

And the International Red Cross, and UN?  I will withhold what I think of them, as my blood pressure is bad enough already.

Palmetto State Armory adjustable gas block

This bit of reporting came about because a guy tried a suppressor on his .223 AR15, and discovered things did not work right. No can, shot fine, put on the can, feeding problems.

For those not familiar with some of this, you know the AR design leaks some of the high-pressure gas from the barrel, through a gas tube, and into the bolt group to cycle the action. Most AR’s are overgassed: the gas port lets a lot more gas through than necessary, because “We know it’ll work this way.” However, when you put a suppressor into this, it causes back pressure due to it slowing the gas going out the barrel, so now it’s REALLY overgassed, and can drive the bolt group fast enough that things don’t work right, plus working the action harder than it should be.

The fix for this is to either use a stronger buffer spring, and/or maybe a heavier buffer, to slow things a bit, or get an adjustable gas block. It has a valve that lets you adjust how much gas goes through. You can set it to be just right either with or without the can, changing the setting if need be, or find a happy medium. He wanted the medium, so started digging for gas blocks so could adjust it with different ammo.

Have you seen the prices on some of these?

Wanting to try something less expensive for a experiment, he settled on this one from PSA.

Part was duly ordered, and arrived, and was put on. Which brings us to ‘How’d it work?’
As it was supposed to, so far, which hasn’t been very long. We’ll see how it holds up; in the meantime:

Pluses
Well made, good finish.

Fit snugly on the barrel.

Adjustment clicks you could actually feel.

The adjustment screw sticks straight out the front, just above the barrel. When I say ‘just above’, I mean it, so a regular hex key will give the easiest access. In a carbine-length gas system, might need a longer adjusting wrench.

The adjustment did not change while shooting with the locking screw not locked, so no 'lock it every time between shots'.

The locking screw is on the right side and small. It should keep that adjustment nicely.

Cons:

No documentation of any kind. So if you’re not familiar with working an adjustable block, some reading or talking to someone who is would be a good idea.

No hex key comes with it, so you’ll need one.  This was 3/32".

Depending on your handguard, you may have to take it off or move it to reach the locking screw.

General stuff
The locking screw was locked down tight when it arrived, you’ll have to loosen it to adjust the thing.

The two screws to lock the block to the barrel will need to be backed-off a bit for it to fit into place.*

Did not come with a new gas tube pin

There was only one review on the web page, saying it failed after 500 rounds. Dig around online and mixed. He’ll see how it holds up over time.

Before installing the owner cranked the adjustment down quite a bit**, then the ‘Load one in the mag, chamber, fire and see if the bolt locks back’ process began, with it not locking back first shot. Opened a couple of clicks, it worked, followed by several more to make sure it didn’t need more clicks open. After which it was fired with the suppressor, and worked.

Being the suspicious sort he shot it again the next day, with all working as it should. According to those ‘where the cases should eject toward’ charts ejection without the suppressor right in the middle of good territory, with suppressor about one position into ‘more gas than needed’ territory, which is where the locked the adjustment at.

So far, it works. I’m sure if the adjustment screw ejects itself downrange*** or something I’ll hear about it.

*No idea if they're all that way, not a lot of experience on them

**Before you install it, if you look at the back of the block on the inside, where it'll fit over the gas port, you can see just how far you're cranking it down, I'd suggested just leaving it a little open for the start.

***A guy in one online review said his did this.  Which would be Bad.

I know I'm way behind on some things,

this, for instance, having been planned a few days ago.  So,

Just because

Once again, people who need flogging, at least as a start

The Army is repurposing more than half of the money it collects from junior enlisted soldiers for food, according to data reviewed by Military.com. The numbers suggest that a large portion of those funds are not going toward feeding soldiers, a diversion of resources coming at a time when troops increasingly struggle to find nutritious food on base.
"Mr. President and Secretary Hegseth:
May I recommend you review this matter.

For those responsible, I would suggest borrow the cages used in the movie 'Comanche Moon' as the punishment for those responsible.

Sincerely, etc."

No, I didn't know about that gunman,

from what Ngo tells us, you probably won't hear a thing on the regular 'news'.

That Coast Guard Commandant who just got fired had things other than DEI she should've been using her time on.  Holy crap, some other people need to lose rank or be thrown out as well.

"Trump just fired those FBI officials out of revenge!"
The hell he did.  And they should be tried for violating federal laws, one of which is going after a whistleblower.

And Garland should be tried with him, if they haven't already burned all the evidence.

I may have posted on this before, but I'm too tired to look: F Troop just seems to want to give more reasons to throw them the hell out.
And get sued.

And that's all I've got for now, guys

A collection, which includes some people who really ought to be facing a public whipping post

Let's start with a Democrat party official calling for a death penalty for supporting Trump, and saying
...President Trump’s efforts “would be sufficient morally to support his extraconstitutional removal.”
My, I wonder who he wants running the executions squads?  Will be be official and call for the EffingBI, or just be honest and call for antifa murder squads?
And who will be his Che to make sure there are no findings of 'innocent'?

And just how many people he's willing to lose to murder all those people?  Because a lot of people will be rather resistant, I would think, to being executed by the Stalin wannabes.

One more reason to fire most, if not all, of the EffingBI:
There was a very disturbing article in the Los Angeles Times, warning criminal aliens of a pending ICE operation sweep that was coming to the LA area. The source for the advanced tip-off were indicated within the reporting to be FBI officials in Washington DC.

Today, it appears that Dept of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is confirming the leak came from the FBI as she says, “The FBI is so corrupt. We will work with any and every agency to stop leaks and prosecute these crooked deep state agents to the fullest extent of the law.”

No excuses, fire and try them.

Speaking of, you've got a judge who said "The Treasury Secretary doesn't get to know much about his position", and others pulling other bullshit.  Including some leftist judges telling the President "You do what I say and put back all that funding you've stopped!"  And others who've pulled out some first class bullshit.

Guy whose blog I used to read once said "Take an incompetent or bigoted lawyer and put him in a black robe, that does not suddenly make them a superior lawyer."  Boy, was he right.

The Brits seem to have judges like the Germans: easy punishments for muslim immigrants, and screw the victims.  Again.
A Pakistani father who was jailed for child sex offences escaped deportation because it would be “unduly harsh” on his children.

The unnamed father of two toddlers, who was granted anonymity by an immigration court, had been banned from living with his children since he was convicted of trying to get three “barely pubescent” girls to engage in sex and jailed for 18 months.

The Brits need to remember just what Gen. Napier said, and what he would've said about this.

This lady's been putting out a lot of stuff confirming just what a bleeping mess the White House was after the Democrats and their servile  'lie on the news' clowns could no longer pretend Biden was going down hill fast(er) every day, and this part includes
"It was for sure Obama’s third term," Lindy Li said. "I don’t think that’s even a question."

"That’s why you saw Obama fighting for his dear life in the fall," she said. "Because he was fighting for his fourth term. He was fighting for his own legacy."

Which brought to mind if it was Hunter making up the "Pardon Me!" list.  Because if it were confirmed he usurped Biden's authority, and sat illegally in classified meetings, I think that would get him in some serious trouble.
