...Cincinnati police officers will no longer respond in person to the following reports: criminal damaging, dog bites, lost property, lost or stolen license plates, phone harassment, property damage or found property.
Police will no longer respond to assault reports, unless a suspect is still present or the victim requires medical attention, breaking and entering reports unless a suspect is still present, menacing reports "unless suspect is expected or threatens to return or is part of the elements of domestic violence" or theft reports "where there is no possibility of immediate apprehension".
Make you a bet: especially if you use a weapon to protect yourself from someone they won't show up for, they'll be right on your ass.

Much like I've been thinking
Professor Gupta lead a team of researchers at Oxford University in a modeling study which suggests that the virus has been invisibly spreading for at least a month earlier than suspected, concluding that as many as half of the people in the United Kingdom have already been infected by COVID-19.
If this is the case, fewer than one in a thousand who’ve been infected with COVID-19 become sick enough to need hospitalization, leaving the vast majority with mild cases or free of symptoms.
With so many in the U.K. (and potentially the United States) presumably infected, so-called “herd immunity” could kick into effect, dramatically limiting the number of deaths modeled by Ferguson and company.

How effing stupid is Californicated?
Yes, the state that removed criminal penalties for knowingly giving someone AIDS has imposed criminal penalties on anyone who might inadvertently spread Wuhanvirus. Yes, the open-borders governor who claims he has no moral authority to tell Mexicans to stay out has ordered all Californians to stay in.
And yes, the state that’s rapidly decriminalizing property crimes has criminalized going outdoors. A Californian who decides to take a walk in a park risks more severe penalties than an illegal alien who steals a TV. Cities like San Francisco have reclassified property crimes as non-arrest offenses (citation only, as if for jaywalking), and California as a whole has deemed theft of items valued at less than $950 a non-arrest offense (as a result, such thefts are rarely pursued by police). On the other hand, any violation of Gavin Newsom’s “stay at home” edict is “punishable by a fine of up to $1,000 or by imprisonment for no more than six months” (L.A.’s separate “stay at home” order carries the same penalties).
At some point some actual working citizens are going to have to decorate a few trees to- maybe- get some control back. Assuming they'll bother; they elected these morons in the first place(the idiots in the major cities, the people outside those areas are screwed).

Among the reasons I refuse to join the CCP Virus panic:

“The age of our patients in hospitals is substantially older - the median is 67, while in China it was 46,” Prof Ricciardi says. “So essentially the age distribution of our patients is squeezed to an older age and this is substantial in increasing the lethality.”

“The way in which we code deaths in our country is very generous in the sense that all the people who die in hospitals with the coronavirus are deemed to be dying of the coronavirus.
“On re-evaluation by the National Institute of Health, only 12 per cent of death certificates have shown a direct causality from coronavirus, while 88 per cent of patients who have died have at least one pre-morbidity - many had two or three,” he says.
Throw in, as noted, that there's no good number on how many people have been exposed, either had no problem or fought it off("I had a cold/flu last month"), which means the death rate numbers seem to be artifically inflated.

Think of 'the week before Christmas' sales numbers. That's what it's been like day after day. Yesterday, due to the 'Panic Before The Kung Flu' crap they were limiting the number of people in the store, and we're out of a bunch of things and low on most else, and the weather kind of sucked,
and it still had that kind of gross sales at the end of the day.
I think if you took boxes of ammo- 9mm in particular- and broke them into baggies of 25 rounds each, you could sell them for $10 or $20 bucks each to a lot of people.
Damn.

Some results from studying that cruise ship with Wuhan running loose Updated
and it wasn't an apocalypse.
For me, this is all good news. 83% of the people on the ship didn’t get it, despite perfect conditions for transmission. If you get it, you have about a 50/50 chance of showing no symptoms at all. And the fatality rate is lower than the earlier estimates of 2% or above.
I think a bunch of politicians and journalists should be tarred, feathered, and then hanged for working so hard to scare hell out of everyone.
Yes, it's a problem. No, it's not the damned end of the world, and the people using this for political reasons are in dire need of dealing with.

I haven't posted much on shooting lately
simply because the weather has been overall sucky, and time has been insufficient for any real range trips. And general "I fired 'x' many 9mm/.22/.45/whatever at a target" isn't exactly interesting reading.
Now they're talking about off & on showers and some storms throughout most of the week... Yuck.
By the way, couple of days ago a local news weenie was talking about the forecast and popped out with '...and some scattered thunderstorms, some may be severe with small hail and strong winds.'
What the hell?
Since when, in Oklahoma in spring, has 'small hail and strong winds' become a friggin' severe storm?
Throw in watching people- far too many of them- lose their damn minds because "VIRUS! WE'LL ALL DIE IF I DON'T BUY ENOUGH STUFF!!"...
And it's too early to start drinking.
