You're in Chicago. And they'd rather give money for funerals than actually do something about the gang violence.
"Mayor Brandon Johnson will increase the scope of a pilot program that funds basic needs for victims of gun violence and their families, he announced Thursday as the latest update in his public safety plan ahead of the summer.

This is a socialist asshole playing "See, I am being more generous to you, giving more money to bury your dead!"  Whereas someone who actually gave a damn would be backing the cops going after the murderers- most gangbangers- and putting them in prison.  But fat chance of that in Chicago.  I'm really not sure why good cops still work in that place: the city government craps on them and kisses the criminals.
