Yeah, they're worried about the important stuff

At the beginning of 2020, there was a concerted effort to force everyone to use socially approved terms for the novel coronavirus, which was initially termed the “Wuhan Flu” due to the likely possibility it originated in the research labs of the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Now, scientists are pressing for the rebranding of monkeypox, claiming it is discriminatory and stigmatizing.

The World Health Organization will officially rename monkeypox, in light of concerns about stigma and racism surrounding the virus that has infected over 1,600 people in more than two dozen countries.

Most of the places dealing with it are also using language to not flatly say that most people diagnosed with it appear to have caught it through male homosexual sexual contact.  Because sensitive, and better to say everyone is at equal risk than actually worry about those most at risk.

Be nice to have authorities more concerned with actually treating the disease than what it's called.

Exactly HOW is it discriminatory? How is it stigmatizing?

Last I heard only a half dozen people with it were not gay men who got it through sex. All the others were wives of bisexual men.

Lets call it gaypox so we dont ofdend the monkeys.

With hookup culture being what it is, it's only a matter of time before we start seeing it spread in raves, music festivals, and nightclubs.

They're going for social justice points, that never has to make sense

As to the raves and such, so if I don't go to those places and have random sex with strangers who might have gotten it from someone else with similar tastes, I'm good. I can live with that.

There was another such incident that showed up in the late seventies, early eighties that started with gas men, spread by bisexual men to women and then worked it's way to straights. AIDS.....
Getting laid at any moment with any partner at any time came to a screeching halt.
The guy plague is now monkey pox that we need to call something else so as to offend neither guy men nor monkeys.
