Couple of days ago I got a statement in the mail from a hospital, which I'd been expecting. Saw it when I got in Friday evening and didn't actually look at it till today.
It's for something last year, which I was sure was already paid for. So call, and the nice lady tells me that this is actually for a ER visit in April this year, the thing last year is indeed paid for, and she will be happy to send me a statement for the correct date and services.

NEVER pay a hospital bill until you make sure the dates and all match up.
