I completely understand that all LEO's want to go home at the end of the day and many situations require backup or more robust resources. However, when you have an active shooter situation in a school it seems to me that even if Barney Fife armed with a .38 revolver is the first to arrive on scene, Officer Fife needs to take kinetic action. For multiple well-armed officers to just sit around for 40 minutes while victims are bleeding out is not only irresponsible, it's cowardly and criminal.
That was one of the things after Columbine: It does no good to have tac teams all over if they don't DO anything except "We must have a plan." If you have an active murderer in a school, you go in. Right then, whoever is there first.
the cops are NOT your friends . The SCOTUS has ruled time after time that the cops have NO duty to actually do their job and protect anyone. the cops are really just heavily armed psychotic janitors. their only job is to clean up after a crime has happened , not to help any one.
It's worse. The reports are that the cops went in and got their own kids and left the others. They ate our salt, and then refused to take the field when we called. I believe the punishment for dissertation in the face of the enemy is death.
