Kasich really is a shitbird

Ohio Gov. John Kasich refused to sign a bill waiving fees for active duty military and veterans who apply for a concealed handgun license in protest over a gun control impasse.

The Republican allowed SB 81 to become law without his signature on Friday, arguing that lawmakers missed the chance to enact gun control measures this session in the wake of a high-profile school shooting in Parkland, Florida.
"You won't let me ban things and violate people's rights!  I won't sign your bill!"

While I agree that Kasich is a douche on multiple levels, why should some guy or gal who worked the Army mail room stateside for 2 yrs get a pass on a $67 fee? That's not a backbreaking fee for anyone with a job.
Yes, they're a vet. Yes, they "signed a check payable up to their life". So does every other Cop & Fireman in the world - only FFs & cops do it for 20-30 years.

From the link: “Members of the military are arguably the most responsible and best-trained group of gun owners in the country,”
BULLLLSHIIIIIT!!
There's a *gigantic* portion of the military that don't have the first clue about the proper, safe use of guns or shooting.

Yeah, lot of military/background people have lousy firearms knowledge and skills. I tend to look on waiving those fees as making sure those who did risk it all get something more for it. It's also one more "Screw your charge to exercise a right" point.
