The plane does go into an extremely nose up attitude.
on at least some of those jets, if you get an engine out (e.g. birds) you actually do pull back on the stick (completely different to a light aircraft where you shove the stick forward to regain a safe flying speed).
I watched a couple of times to see if there were smoke trails visible from the engines - there were non visible, so don't know on that part.
cargo breaking free and running backwards would certainly do that. Planes are extremely sensitive to the position of the centre of gravity, a few inches change can really screw things up.
what we see is the plane going very nose up, loosing flying speed, and the left wing beginning to stall and drop,
the pilot managed to correct that, but by that time the other wing had stopped flying and dropped, with the rest of the plane following.
poor buggers.
I listned to the British news earlier, three Brits killed by a roadside bomb.

WTF?!?!!?? That looked like the plane wasn't gaining altitude?!?!??! What happened?
Steve
Going strictly by tv/book knowledge, I'd guess it stalled for some reason, but that's just a guess.
Saw a mention somewhere there's also a guess cargo could have broken loose and shifted; God knows if they'll ever find out for sure
