Joy, joy
This morning the pc decided to start continually acting like it'd just been turned on, and nothing I tried could break it out. So it's going to be looked at by someone I know, and- happily- I still had my old pc set aside.

Sounds like a possible hardware problem; might just be a loose internal cable connection, though.
Hopefully nothing expensive.
Being looked at this weekend; hope it's something fixable, I really don't want to go computer shopping right now.
