I'd wondered about the hinge system myself, hadn't gotten to the trigger yet. The thing seems to be shielded fairly well to protect the fingers from the flash gap, but that might make it dirtier faster.
I suspect the 'Why?' boils down to two things: "Because we can!", followed by "Because we can probably get a bunch of people to buy it!"
It's possible it'll work out fairly well, we'll see.

I wonder if the trigger pull is as horrible as most bullpup carbines.

I'm thinking a lot of gunpowder burns on the thumb and forefinger every time you fire the thing.

Looks like another solution in search of a problem. And I suspect overly complicated which is never a good idea.
