This .300 Blackout load, using a Nosler 110-grain hollowpoint, is 1.5" high at 100 yards and dead-on at 200. That's nice.
A .22 at 150 yards won't make much of a ring on that gong, but there's a low 'tok'. And since it'd been freshly painted, the hits showed nicely in the spotting scope.
I like .45-70, but the thought of shooting, say, 50 rounds in a match, with it in traditional form- no recoil pad- makes me ache.
Couldn't have been a nicer day to shoot. Little enough wind that, several times, had to wait for the powder smoke to disperse enough that I could use the scope on the target.

.45-70 Cowboy loads are actually pretty pleasant. Hornady LeveRevolution loads, not so much.
These were 525-grain cast over 66 grains of 2f; they have a bit of kick.
