Makes you wonder how many people have died, and how many suffered long-term or permanent harm

because idiot politicians decided their medical needs could wait.

"We didn't intend this"  Yeah, that's great, and the road to hell etc.

Delayed and disrupted cancer treatments, surgery without a general because that would be disallowed. Personally related second hand . I heard from the patients that is. Treatment rooms empty because of treatment restrictions. Doctors and nurses laid off because they are forbidden to treat patients. This is not a sane approach to what seems to be turning out to be a really bad easily spread cold that kills mostly old people. Hype and overreaction are kiling more than the virus ever could.

Doctors' offices and hospitals have always posed a risk of spreading infections. Someone recovering from surgery is at an increased risk from COVID-19 and other infections. So it makes sense to postpone procedures when there's no risk or serious downside to delaying the treatment, IF doctors decided this on a case by case basis. BUT it makes no sense for a governor to practice medicine without a license - and with no capacity to review individual cases - and decide to shut down all non-emergency procedures.
