their offices hasn’t been a problem for 242 years. But Democrats are now
promising to end that practice when they retake control of the House of
Representatives next month.
The Democrats want to end it because they don't want anyone except .gov minions with badges to have guns. I want it to end because "If you asshats don't want to let the commoners carry in DC, YOU CAN'T EITHER."
I would add "And, since they insist "We have police, you don't need a gun", I'll add in "No politician should be allowed to hire private security or get special consideration from the police, Secret Service, or anyone else beyond that which an average citizen gets."

I think it's even simpler than that. The Democrats threw open the floor of the Senate and Senate office buildings to a howling leftist mob during the Justice Kavanaugh confirmation hearings, in a blatant attempt to frighten GOP senators out of voting for him. I'm looking for the radical Democrat RESIST!!! faction now running the House to do precisely the same thing on a recurring basis. Can't have their intended victims able to defend themselves now, can we?

You might well be right.
Though I wonder if they understand just how badly a large section of the country would take it if their soviet-minded minions manage to actually attack/hurt/kill people in those buildings.
