A bit of history, or

"Who said mean things about the BATFEIEIO?"
Once upon a time the NRA sent out a fundraising letter with a quote about ATF agents being jack-booted thugs.

The left had hysterics over those 'brave federal agents'* being described so.

Bush 41 had a snit fit and resigned his NRA membership.

Slight problem:  that quote was from Rep. John Dingell, a Democrat, from a speech he made on the floor of the House:
“If I were to select a jackbooted group of fascists who are perhaps as large a danger to American society as I could pick today, I would pick BATF.”

Year or so later he said
“I would love to put [ATF agents] in jail, I think they are evil.”

The media either never bothered to find out, or refused to  mention where that quote came from, and the Democrats damn sure didn't want anyone to know; it's so much better to accuse the NRA of hating than to deal with what their own said.

*Unlike the Border Patrol and ICE agents, who are horrible racist haters, etc.
