One of the possible side-effects of self-defense:

scumbag family of deceased scumbag threatening you.
Turn it over to the cops.  And stay armed.

Damn.  I'd not heard of these guys either.  The 21 Sikhs of Saragarhi.

The good thing in this:
"The facts of this case—when viewed in the light most favorable to the plaintiffs—adequately establish that the 'inspection' of Strictly Skillz amounted to an unconstitutional search," the court says, "and that the unconstitutionality of such a search was clearly established at the time that the search was executed." Hence a federal judge was right to rule that Vidler and Deputy Travis Leslie do notdeserve qualified immunity.
The bad things: that these idiots, and the idiots who went with them on these raids, actually thought this was a good idea.

Personally, I'd also suggest going after their supervisors, too; this was an ongoing bullshit operation, and their bosses had to know what was going on and approve of it.

Denial of qualified immunity is what makes this a big deal. That's going to sting AND it leave a nifty precedent.

Move to Texas where we have effectively put a stop to crap like that.
