And apparently a cane can be taken right on board an airplane with no questions asked by TSA, because the terms of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) forbids government officials from questioning someone's need for a cane. This doesn't mean you try to smuggle a sword cane or some other weaponized cane onboard, though.
