Israel has agreed to a 4-day cease-fire to get some hostages back

Seems like a bad idea, it ought to be ALL hostages back.  As Insty put it, I hope Mossad uses this time wisely.

Anyone else suspect that it's only some kids being released because they're both the only ones left alive, and not in a condition that will cause the reaction of "No more talking, kill Hamas to the last one."?

Israel is making a mistake to "negotiate" with he terrorists.
What they should do is continue killing terrorists and destroying terrorist infrastructure until there are no more terrorists.......

There will be some hostages that are never returned, because they have been tortured and mistreated so badly that Hamas feels the PR disaster would be too great. Like the Nazis, they will attempt to hide the worst of their crimes, now that they know how much of the world reacted to their first crimes.

Those hostages will just disappear, or their bodies will be placed so that it appears they were killed by Israeli actions.

Putting on my Carnac turban here: Hamas will be the first to break the cease-fire, in a spectacular manner, and blame Israel for doing so.

While Hamas might be concerned about the PR disaster, we cannot forget that the war between them and Israel is not being fought in a vacuum. Meaning that Israel also must be concerned about public relations. Much more than Hamas needs to be concerned. Hamas is a terrorist group, so when they act like thugs no one is surprised. But Israel is held to a higher standard by the media and the world. And while we wish it were not so, Israel needs to at the least not allow the world's support to turn towards Hamas.
While this pause favors Hamas and their goals in some ways, the pause also has benefits to Israel. While they need to keep the pressure on and not let Hamas have breathing room, the IDF like any other military unit that has been on the attack for so long can use the brief respite to consolidate their gains, rest their troops, bring up equipment and supplies that might be needed, etc. The IDF is among the elite of the world. There is no doubt that the pause will be well spent by them, both in a welcome rest and planning for future movements, based upon what they have discovered so far.
Of course those being released by Hamas will be women and children, that was specified in their agreement. That is still great news for those loved ones back at home. We can not forget that Hamas took hostages, either which is simply not acceptable and calls for their complete and utter destruction with no room for mercy. Sometimes nothing except putting down a rabid dog will solve the problem.

I suspect that both sides needed a pause. From what I've read, though of course I don't know, Israel has moved faster than it expected, and has used a lot of resources. It's easy to outrun your logistics. Accordingly, Israel may be in need of a couple of days of slowdown to reinforce, rearm, reorganize, etc.

Hamas can also use the delay to fortify, but I suspect they will benefit less -- since they are not getting any new resources. Stacking up more sandbags on the blast door to a tunnel will only help so much...

Perhaps Mo-sodomy should have been more on point prior to Sat, Oct 7, 2023.

I saw on the news that two men were Thai nationals, probably mooslim too. How did they get caught up in the Humass kidnapping?
