in the name of making the EU and proggies happy.
These words are so important it cannot be overstated, and idiots around the world consider them trash:
Without freedom of thought, there can be no such thing as wisdom; and no such thing as publick liberty, without freedom of speech.… This sacred privilege is so essential to free government, that the security of property; and the freedom of speech, always go together; and in those wretched countries where a man cannot call his tongue his own, he can scarce call any thing else his own. Whoever would overthrow the liberty of the nation, must begin by subduing the freedom of speech...
That men ought to speak well of their Governors is true, while their Governors deserve to be well spoken of; but to do public Mischief, without hearing of it, is only the Prerogative and Felicity of Tyranny. A free People will be showing that they are so, by their Freedom of Speech

The simple fact is that not every culture values liberty the way ours does.
That includes many Americans. Too often we forget that 1A as we know it today (i.e., as an expansive, broad-ranging right) is of very recent vintage. Press freedoms were routinely infringed during the 20th century, and if SCOTUS had sided with the DOJ rather than with the NY Times in the matter of the Pentagon Papers, 1A as we know it today may never have come to exist.
I used to be proud of my Irish ancestry,
They fought the norse, the scots, the brits, for a crappy little island in the N. Atlantic.
How in the hell did they turn into a bunch of wanking little snowflakes?
