Many years ago Father-In-Law had a heart attack followed by 5 bypasses. This was just after Thanksgiving. The doctor told him that he shouldn't lift anything heavier than a coffee cup until fully healed. When he was home recovering, he went into the yard and pulled a cedar tree that my Mother-In-Law had cut down (a little bow saw work) into the house to use as a Christmas tree. The next day was his checkup with the doctor. He mentioned how sore his chest was and told the doctor what he'd done. The doctor called him an idiot and explained that his chest bone was wired together, and that if he pulled it apart it would heal that way and creak and groan for the rest of his life. The doctor then asked why he'd done that when he was told not to pick up anything heavier than a coffee cup. My Father-In-Laws answer? "Well, you didn't tell me why." He was a smart man, but mules could take lessons on stubbornness from him.
