- 120 specifically-named firearms
- Certain other semiautomatic rifles, handguns, shotguns that can accept a detachable magazine and have one military characteristic
- Semiautomatic rifles and handguns with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds
- Strengthens the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban and various state bans by:
- Moving from a 2-characteristic test to a 1-characteristic test
- Eliminating the easy-to-remove bayonet mounts and flash suppressors from the characteristics test
- Banning firearms with “thumbhole stocks” and “bullet buttons” to address attempts to “work around” prior bans
- Bans large-capacity ammunition feeding devices capable of accepting more than 10 rounds.
- Protects legitimate hunters and the rights of existing gun owners by:
- Grandfathering weapons legally possessed on the date of enactment

And that's not all.
I agree: HELL no.

Probably has not a chance in hell of passing in the House and maybe not even the Senate. Nevertheless I think it is time to get the special CMP Garand. Those may not be available much longer.
The bit about grandfathering in existing owners?
It is classic dividing and conquering by paying off one constituency at the expense of another.
It's also a sign they hope the indoctrination will take hold and the old ones will die and new gun fearing wussies won't want to own the icky things, so demonization and confiscation will not have to be so widespread.
The import ban is also designed to appeal to both domestic manufacturers, and to those Hamiltonian conservatives who believe that being forced by credible threat of death into paying more for an inferior domestic product somehow makes you richer than being free to choose the product you actually want.
It may be as well to remind your domestic manufacturers that any double dealing will result in their bankruptcy and liquidation, with the brand name being unsaleable.
