There is a problem with this

“I don’t see any justice in just sentencing someone to die…To me, the justice is in someone living with what they have done to you, your family, and having to live with that for the rest of their life knowing they will never walk out those bars.”
The piece of shit this was referring to was this man, who raped and murdered an 11-month-old child.  And the problem is that someone capable of that is very unlikely to have trouble 'living with what they've done to you'; more likely he'd spend his years in prison gaming parole boards to try to get out, using smuggled-in drugs, and raping new inmates.

Personally, I'm not going to lose any sleep over his assuming ambient temperature.

I would have no trouble putting such a murderer as him into solitary, in what the French called an Oubliette, to have food and water thrown into the pit. THEN he might properly contemplate his crime.

Otherwise, he's staying in a nicer place than he was ever able to afford on his own dime
