The Southport, NC detective who shot a tased and restrained 90-pound HS student after allegedly stating, “we don’t have time for this,” was indicted by a grand jury on the charge of voluntary manslaughter earlier this month:
After all the cases of 'followed procedure so piss off', amazing that this guy was actually indicted. If you hadn't heard of this case before, here's one of the original reports with the obligatory "It's sad, but the officer HAD to do it" defense by the cop union:
And the family has no
qualms with the first two law enforcement officers who responded -- one
from Boiling Spring Lakes police and the other a Brunswick County
Sheriff's deputy -- with the stepbrother saying they "did nothing
wrong."
"All they did was taze
my brother and try to get him into handcuffs so he couldn't harm
himself," said Mark Ryan Wilsey, who wasn't at the scene but relayed his
family's account. "They had the situation under control."
But the family says the situation unnecessarily took a turn for the worse when the Southport detective arrived.
Stepfather Mark Wilsey
told WECT that Vidal had been tased and was pinned when one of the
officers said, "We don't have time for this" and fired his gun.
Seventy seconds after
the third officer arrived, WECT reported, citing police records, police
radioed that the teenager had been shot in self-defense.
Why you're not seen as Officer Friendly anymore: you're a murderer. And your union defends it.

A GJ indictment is not a trial, it's not a conviction and it's not
20 years in the slammer.
Fullerton badgemonkeys Manuel Ramos and Jay Ciccinelli murdered
Kelly Thomas ON VIDEO and still managed to get an acquittal from a
jury packed with brain dead oxygen thieves.
I know; fact that he was indicted is a change, though. That's rare.
Not holding my breath about him paying real consequences, though.
Hey, it's better than what I expected, which was nothing - like the LAPD guys who fire indiscriminately at innocents and didn't even get dinner without doughnuts!
It's a start.

Indicted. Will be put on "administrative leave", with full pay. ( called an extra vacation, while seniority continues to accrue).
Then the trial. Found innocent. Returns to work with promotion and a raise.
We have seen this how many times??
