Nearly a third of Blount County is inside the Great Smoky Mountains
National Park. So when the federal government shut down the park, it
also shut down one of the area’s chief sources of revenue.
The National Park Service also closed the Foothills Parkway, a major
thoroughfare in the county. The closure came without warning and left
the local school district scrambling to get children back to their
homes.
The Park Service is not your friend. And apparently has no problem with screwing the citizens this way.
From Ace:
NYTimes reports that the faulty Obamacare websites were designed by contractors,
who the White House has declined to identify. That's right, proles, you
have no right to know just which donors' sons got paid outrageous sums
of taxpayer money to half-ass the exchange software and which other
donors' sons are now getting paid outrageous sums of taxpayer money to
fix the half-assed work that should have been done correctly in the
first place.
NFL starts treating off-duty cops just like everyone else: whining and moaning ensues.
Yet there's always money for crap like this...
The ... NEA has
awarded a grant of $100,000 for a multimedia game teaming players with an alien who fights to improve women’s auras damaged by negative
self-esteem, discrimination and eating disorders.
I believe the word "Dupnik" should live on in infamy.
Sounds good to me. Define 'Dubnik' as 'A walking pile of crap wearing a badge'.
