So there's this medical treatment that appears to have the side-effect

of reducing chances of a baby having homosexual tendencies. It treats a very real condition, but because of this side-effect a bunch of people have their panties in a wad.
A hormonal treatment to prevent ambiguous genitalia can now be offered to women who may be carrying such infants. It's not without health risks, but to its critics those are of small consequence compared with this notable side effect: The treatment might reduce the likelihood that a female with the condition will be homosexual. Further, it seems to increase the chances that she will have what are considered more feminine behavioral traits.

That such a treatment would ever be considered, even to prevent genital abnormalities, has outraged gay and lesbian groups, troubled some doctors and fueled bioethicists' debate about the nature of human sexuality.
I'm going to put this very bluntly: fuck you one and all. That you'd want to prevent a treatment for a problem because it MIGHT reduce the LIKELIHOOD ?

You don't care about the kids, you care about pushing your little cause. Fuck you twice, you assholes.

Agreed. But not the only bunch who behaves like that, there seem to be deaf activists who get all outraged when different types of cures for the condition are developed, same with some Autists - presumably ones who have a mild enough form that they are able to survive more or less on their own in the society. From what I have read it's usually either about something like the preservation of a culture (deaf) or respecting individuals as they are and not trying to force everybody to the same mold. I guess I can sort of get where they are coming from, but it still sounds bizarre.

This one even more so.

There was a radio play back about '92 in which the gene for male homosexuality had been identified and could be tested for.

Apart from a joke about "if Michael Angelo had been straight, the ceiling of the sisteen chapel would be painted magnolia", (ok, I've bad memories of a camp and extremely bitchy interior designer that a friend was going with - I wouldn't mind if someone found the stone they creep out from under)

-there was the worrying prospect of no more male nurses (I'm not suggesting anything about Xav, now!).

This treatment seems to be preventing dykes, and to be honest, the only area that I can think of in which dykes excel, is fist fights in the ladies room.

What ever happened to "it's a woman's body and her right to choose"?

I'm a lesbian, and I completely agree with you. To withhold a treatment that would prevent a painful surgery and a lifetime of surgically created genitalia because it MIGHT make the baby straight is inexcusable.

And you're right... the gay and lesbian activist groups only care about "the cause." Fuck anything or anyone that gets in the way. And that's why I don't associate with those people.
