Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, who had earlier said there was no evidence that the attack was "anything other than a one-off," noted on Good Mormng America that there is a history of groups trying to claim credit for attacks. But she did not rule out any groups. "What we have is a real attempt at an attack," said Napolitano. "Law enforcement is pursuing leads."
Let's see, guy drives the car bomb into Times Square, parks in an interesting location, turns the stuff on and runs, and this counts as a 'real attempt at an attack'. Whereas if the damn thing had gone off properly she'd be talking about the 'horrendous toll of death and injury'. Though, considering her record, she might still try getting away with 'man-caused disaster'.
Oh, and as to her 'one-off' comment?
U.S. law enforcement officials say there is growing evidence the Times Square bomber had ties to radical elements overseas and did not act alone.
One senior official said there are several individuals believed to be connected with the bombing and that at least one of them is a Pakistani-American.
No, people like that couldn't possibly make more than one attack, right?
