Something I've never seen happen, for a couple of reasons

If you pulled out ammo and started loading, the independent shops I've known, the least that would happen is the gun would be yanked out of your hands, and you would be told to leave.  If need be, this would involve at least one somebody landing on top of you, because that crap would NOT be tolerated.

Holy crap, that's both stupid and dangerous, because if someone managed to load one and then tried that, they're going to be looking down a gun barrel aimed at them, because nobody is going to take a chance on someone stupid enough to try that.

Something just seems fishy about this article. I am trying to imagine how the gun would not fire when loaded and the trigger pulled. Maybe I am missing something or the man knew that little about guns?

About ten years ago, a gun store in Rutland, VT had essentially the same thing happen. Customer asked to see a Glock. The salesman handed him an unloaded and magazine-less pistol, for his inspection. Customer pulled a loaded mag from his coat, inserted it into the pistol, charged it - then committed suicide right in the store. Happened so fast, the salesman barely knew what happened.

I'd guess dumbass loaded the mag but didn't charge the chamber. So could've been ignorance, or trying to make as much mess as possible without actually shooting someone.
