That is an old AF story. Most pilots know better than to pissoff the ground crews.

I have seen a C141 ready for takeoff as soon as a firetruck crossed the runway. The firetruck broke down on the runway and it took over 4 hours to get authorization to get a wrecker the credentials to go on the flightline. This put the pilots out of their flying time window and they had to postpone their flight for a mandatory standown until they were eligible to fly again.

I know nothing of the procedures, but four HOURS to get clearance for a wrecker? Damn.

I had a major inform me that he was the aircraft commander and his luggage deserved special treatment.

He got it. I heard thru the grapevine he was LIVID over the damage to his model airplane kits and supplies.

C-130's don't have holding tanks, they have what amounts to a bucket with a garbage bag liner.
