the nasty buggers are Reticulated pythons and Anacondas.
I often used to visit a big private collection / small private zoo, of cold blooded critters. they'd take the Burmese pythons out to be stroked and petted.
When the helpers opened the door of a cage of reticulated pythons, the buggers were far more interested in striking at the human that they were in eating dead rodent.
Their bite may not be particularly poisonous, but they're very keen to deliver it.

I've heard that; rock pythons are also supposed to be very bad-tempered and aggressive
