In his book, Blue Water White Death, Peter Gimbel details a globe spanning expedition to photograph the largest sharks. One place was in Australia, but where in Australia? Talks with commercial fishermen convinced them Adelaide was the place. Initially, they had poor success but patience paid off. There were many very large Great Whites in the area. Their best success in the Adelaide area was very near the bay - about two miles - where is man was attacked.
Recently, thanks to my wonderful GF, I got my chance to swim with some dolphins down in Mexico. I know that dolphins are playful, friendly creatures, but while I was in the water with them, I could not help thinking, "This is a very large and powerful creature. If, for whatever reason, he wanted to hurt me, there is pretty much jack-shit I could do about it." Sharks? No, thank you.
