Spoiler alert if you haven't seen the movie:
That first Sherlock Holmes movie with Robert Downey Jr. as Holmes, really liked. The second, 'Game of Shadows', was doing ok, although way too much 'bad guy shoots up everything in sight to get Watson', and then...
Scene where Holmes, having been tortured, is saved by Watson, and there's a long scene of the good guys fleeing which is really screwed by
Too much slow motion crap,
Too much BS involving artillery,
Yeah, after the upper right chest trauma from the torture Holmes is going to be able to run and fight like that. Sure,
And by the end of that scene I'm going to have to make myself watch the rest of it instead of just enjoying it; they really went over my 'suspension of disbelief' line.
Dammit.

I found the old Basil Rathbone series on YT. It beats the pants off new stuff.
My favorite Sherlock Holmes is still the Granada TV series with Jeremy Brett as Holmes. He really captures the mannerisms and the plot lines follow the books.
I always thought the Jeremy Brett series was the best too. Didn’t care much for the Benedict Cumberbatch series but still will watch anything Sherlockian. A quick wiki search and it turns out he is the most portrayed character in tv and film.

Sigh. You are right. But, they are still better than the "updated" ones with that guy Benedict something-or-other on NetFlix.
The healing rate of a Good Guy to maintain the action is astonishing.
If you never watch sequels, you will never be disappointed. You might miss one or two good movies, but you will miss a lot of schlock
