Is it money? Or are they so tied-up in playing 'anti-racist' that they'll even defend a government committing genocide as long as the government and people who make it up aren't western?
Makes you wonder if a lot of their students are capable of doing anything well, other than playing the proper 'right-thinking people'(according to the left) role.

its the money, always the money. the military institute that i worked at had several dozen chinese students. not just chinese, but people's army members. as long as they paid the international student tuition it was all good. seems harmless until you know we did groundbreaking military research there in addition to letting them in our military science classes.
Chinese exchange students pay full-boat tuition. Chinese companies (wholly owned subsidiaries of the PRC) fund research and make big donations. It's all about the cash.
