needs to be looking for a job outside law enforcement.
Asshole, mad about argument, makes fake 'Murder! Hostages!' call to cops. Cops show up at house.
Officers went to the 1000 block of McCormick, preparing for a hostage situation and they “got into position,” he said.
“A male came to the front door,” Livingston said. “As he came to the front door, one of our officers discharged his weapon.”
Livingston didn’t say if the man,
who was 28, had a weapon when he came to the door, or what caused the
officer to shoot the man. Police don’t think the man fired at officers, but the incident is still under investigation, he said. The man, who has not been identified by police, died at a local hospital.
If they'd found a weapon, they'd damn well be saying so. If he'd fired, they'd damn well say so. From what we know, dumbass fired as soon as this guy answered the door, because... incompetent? Panicky? Stupid? So now an innocent is dead, the department looks like idiots,
The asshole who made the call? Prosecute him for the heaviest charges possible: he took an action he KNEW could get someone killed, and he needs to pay for it.
Update: they caught the piece of shit responsible for the call. And have set the defense for the shooting:
...Finch moved a hand toward the area of his waistband...

conspiracy to commit murder for the caller and murder for the shooter. These people are out of control and the courts are if anything encouraging the behavior. It's almost as if someone wants to incite violent insurrection.
Want to commit murder whenever you'd like? All you need is a badge. Then you can kill ANYBODY and all you have to do is utter one of the magical incantations:
"he made a furtive gesture", "he reached for his waistband", "I feared for my life" and the latest "His hand 'hovered' over his pocket". Do this and you are instantly totally absolved from any and all responsibility for your crime. END OF DISCUSSION.
