Mike Rowe is a treasure

He told the Post-Gazette he is dumbfounded by the Biden administration’s decision to place the burden on the very people we should be rewarding for their choices and skills.

“For every five tradespeople that leave the field this year, two will replace them, and it has been that for nearly a decade — we are looking at a crisis in the skilled labor market unlike anything we’ve ever seen — it’s just math,” Rowe said.

“So, if you ask yourself, ‘Well, what does this decision do to encourage more people to get into the trades?’ The answer is: nothing. If you ask, ‘What does this decision do to get more of those 11 and a half million open jobs filled with people that have the proper training?’ The answer is: nothing. And if you ask yourself, ‘What does this decision do to encourage universities to charge even more money than they’re charging right now?’ The answer is: everything.”

When son started his career as a machinist, his first two jobs he was one of the youngest people in the shop.  Up in Washington Boeing and associated companies were halfway to panic because huge numbers of older machinists, lots of them masters, were going to be able to start retiring in the next couple of years, and there were not nearly enough new guys to replace them.

Place he's at now, he's in his late thirties and the youngest guy in the place.  These are real jobs with real futures that pay well.  You work at it and get better, very well.  Lots of other skilled trades begging for people.  But clowns like Biden and Faucahontas and others do nothing to encourage kids to go into them, EVERYTHING is "YOU MUST GO TO COLLEGE!"

Either they don't understand what they're doing, or they want to damage lots and lots of kids, and the country.

Damage is the object! They are following their master’s orders, who are our countries enemies’

Pedo Joe is clueless about what's being done but his puppet masters are not.
EVERYTHING that's been happening is part of a long term plan to destroy America.
They aren't even TRYING to hide their goal anymore. They openly TELL US they
intend to "remake America".....which requires destroying what already exists.

Well, in the case of Boeing and other big companies, it's been the policy for over 30 years to forcibly get rid of the employees who get paid the most.

You know, like those very same experienced machinists who could not and cannot be replaced.

Because it's all about the bottom line. Business as run by MBAs and accountants.

I graduated with a 2 year degree in radio communications. ANYBODY with the training or experience that I have is damned scarce. My job doesn't pay that well but that's my choice of where I live and who I work for. I know I could double my wages if I wanted to move. We're losing skills that are going to be impossible to replace with machines or computers. . .

If it was Boeing's policy, they started regretting it a few years ago.

I am currently starting my fourth year at an east coast trade school for electrical work. Several students, myself included, have had a hard time finding work because we are in our early 40's. These contractors are all complaining about finding workers, but they only want to higher young, dumb kids fresh out of high school. Many of them are paying wages that are worse than what you could make at Walmart.
